徳島中心街の未来ヴィジョン 2 Vision of Tokushima 2
ヴィジョン２の提案は 新ホールを旧ホールの位置に建て、列車操作場を駅背後に残したまま徳島駅から中央公園へルートを開いて繋げるアイデアである。ヴィジョン１の提案は 新ホールをヤシの木大通りと新町川の交点に建て、駅背後にあった列車操作場をかつてホールのあった場所に移設するアイデアであった。 https://youtu.be/gXUI5wIkJMs
Vision 2’s proposal is to build a new hall in its former location and leave the train control area behind the station. The idea is to open and connect a route from Tokushima Station to Central Park.

徳島は何と幸運なのだろう！水の都と言われるように、徳島駅の周りには川が取り巻くように流れ、街を貫く新町川の両岸は遊歩道が沿っていて、水面はすぐそこにある。駅からはヤシの木の大通りの軸が伸び、新町川に直交して、その先に眉山に至る。何もしなくても都市構造の骨格がすでにある。今は、もう見えなくなったけれど、かつてはヤシの木の並木は徳島のシンボルで、徳島駅を出たとたん、眉山までを見通して「ああ南国徳島に来たんだ」という雰囲気がしたものだ。多くの都市の市街がだらだらと続くのとはだいぶ違う。しかし、徳島の街を歩いているとき、目線の高さからは特別な感じがしない。なぜか？
How lucky is Tokushima! Known as the city of water, rivers flow around Tokushima Station, and the Shinmachi River, which runs through the city, has promenades on both banks, and the waterfront is already established. The axis of the avenue of palm trees extends from the station, perpendicular to the Shinmachi River, and leads to Mt. Bizan. The skeleton of the urban structure is in place. Although you no longer see it now, the line of palm trees used to be a symbol of Tokushima, and as soon as you left Tokushima Station, you could see all the way to Mt. Bizan, giving you the feeling of “Ah, I’ve come to tropical Tokushima”. It’s quite different from the sprawling streets of many cities. However, when walking through the streets of Tokushima, it doesn’t feel special from eye level. why?
— 緑道ループの提案 —
ボードワークや遊歩道が行きどまりにならず、ぐるっと回ってこられたら、自転車や歩いて用を足した後でも、もっと足を延ばすはず。もし、城山公園が線路沿いに新町川まで延びればボードワークに繋げられる。そうすれば中心部をぐるりと回る緑道ループができて、ジョギングやウォーキングも気持ちがいい。車のことを全然気にしないで、ループの上を無限に歩き、走り続けられる。観光客はどんどん冒険をするだろう。既存の遊歩道は次第に寂れていって大道路に突然に当たって終わるが、そういうことがない。気が付いたら次のスポットの前にいるという具合。用のある人はそのループから最後にチョット寄り道をすればよいだけ。これまで無かったまったく新しい経験ができるようになって、人々の回遊が始まる。ホール等の建物やお店もポツンと箱が置かれるような感じでなく、ループで繋げられ、街おこしに参加する。用を足す人だけでなく、ブラブラと街を歩く人々が立ち寄るだろう。

If the boardwalk and promenades don’t land in dead ends and you can go all the way around, you’ll probably want to extend your trip even more after relieving yourself by cycling or walking. If Shiroyama Park were to extend along the railway line to the Shinmachi River, it would be connected to the boardwalk. This will create a greenway loop that goes around the center, making it pleasant for jogging and walking. You can walk and run endlessly on the loop without worrying about cars. Tourists will go on more and more adventures. The existing promenade gradually becomes deserted, suddenly hits the main road, and ends. With a greenway loop, you move seamlessly to the next spot. If you have something to do, just take a short detour from the loop. People will now be able to experience completely new things that they didn’t see before, and people will start to migrate. Buildings such as halls and shops do not look like lonely boxes but are connected and participate in the revitalization of the town. Not only people with destinations but also people exploring the town will stop by.
— 城山中央公園を街の真ん中に —
大公園が都市の中心にあって、気軽に来られれば、用が無くても人々がブラブラと公園にくつろぎに来る。徳島駅が中央公園に開けば徳島の構造が劇的に変わる。公園の緑は人々が心に抱く街のイメージを変え、人々の実生活をより気持ち良いものに変えるだろう。今はイメージしづらくとも、完成すれば今までどうしてそうでなかったか、不思議に思うだろう。

If a large park is located in the center of a city and is easily accessible, people will come to the park to relax even if they have no business to do. If Tokushima Station opens into Central Park, the structure of Tokushima will change dramatically. The greenery of the park will change the image people have of the city and will make their real lives more pleasant. Even if it’s hard to imagine now, once it’s completed, you’ll wonder why it wasn’t done this way before.
