Riding Japan’s Weird-looking Subway Train like a Spaceship | Osaka Metro

Now loading the video…. October 17th, 2023 Umeda, Osaka, Japan Osaka is one of the 3 main cities of Japan with Tokyo and Nagoya 2.75 million of people live in this city Underneath the city, there is a large network of subways, Osaka Metro, consisting of 8 lines

Today, we are trying the newly-debuted train from Osaka Metro, which looks like a spaceship or… The train, 400 Series, debuted in June 25th this year and the trains are running exclusively on Chuo Line (C Line) And as of October 17th, there are only 6 trains of 400 Series in operation

To begin with, let us try the toy figure vending machine in the subway station I want a Pokémon badly 300JPY/2.1USD, one toy I’ll open it later and show you the contents Chuo Line starts from Cosmosquare Station and ends at Nagata Station, but train travels through to Ikoma, our destination today Cosmosquare… GOOD SENSE

I’m now waiting for a 400 Series train to come They don’t show us their train schedule so we have to just wait for the train Waited over 40 mins now haha 1 HOUR PASSED Oh is that.. a totem pole? Awwwwwww!! Finally we’ve got a 400 Series train!! IMPRESSIVE

Look at this strange-looking train face like a spaceship? or a Doctor Octopus’s limb?? Oh yes! Doctor Octopus!! The train came back from the depot and is now ready for our boarding Cabin smels like a brand new car… And it feels very futuristic

What’s surprising is that there are phone charging stations in the cabin ON A SUBWAY TRAIN No one will not consider littering on this train Some cabin has a solo seat which makes this subway travel more comfortable Our train departs at 1:00PM and travels to Ikoma for 42 mins Short trip to Ikoma

Shortly after Cosmosquare, we get out of the underground and run on the elevated railway for a while like New York Subway Enjoy the Osaka City views through the train windows We can see Universal Studios Japan hotels over there We’ve visited there a few times in this channel my favorite place

By the way, this train was built as a precursor to the 2025 Osaka Expo, which will be held near the Chuo Line So, visiters to the Expo first use this futuristic train and go to the site It makes sense The information board above the doorway is very friendly to tourists

You notice the chairs on the platforms do not face towards the tracks This is to prevent people from falling from the platform when drunk Simple yet effective We again go underground I actually don’t like subways very much as they are boring You can also check today’s weather

“Crew may use tablet to confirm emergency information and operation status” Some people even complain about conductors using mobile devices at work because they look idle 400 Series train is quiet, clean, and smell nice like a brand new car We get out of the underground again I prefer seeing the outside

Now heading east of Osaka and today’s destination Ikoma is in the very west of Nara Prefecture What we are going to do in Ikoma is on the top of Mt. Ikoma There is “something” there that I’ve wanted to show you in this travelgeek channel We are soon arriving at Ikoma 1:42PM

Thank you 400 Series for showing us a sneak peek of what is to come after 2025 but you look like a Doctor Octopus limb Ikoma City, the 3rd largest city in Nara Prefecture with 117,295 residents The city feels relaxing with less people than cities in Osaka Let’s have lunch around here

Came to Green Hill Ikoma department store near the station I hear there is a good restaurant and pub street on the top floor Loved by locals This is the restaurant Google suggested to me “Sawaya” The restaurant specializes in chickens, especially Yakitori chickens in Izakaya(Japanese pub) style Sawaya Set Meal, 850JPY/5.9USD

Yakitori is a Japanese type of skewered chicken marinated in sweetened soy sauce We’ve got three types of Yakitori: Seseri(neck meat), Negima(thigh meat and green onion), and Tsukune(meat balls) and Karaage chickens (non Yakitori) Miso soup French-dressing salad Japanese cucumber pickles Dried strips of daikon radish with carrots Rice 5.9USD for this portion… amazing

The chickens were very scrumptious Totally loved this restaurant 2:22PM To the top of the Mount Ikoma, we use a cable car, called Ikoma Cable On the top of the mountain, there is an amusement park, Ikoma Sanjo Yuenchi The amusement park is our final destination today You’ll see why

Ikoma Cable has recently attracted the attention of tourists for its uniqueness Just look at the train face! May be the strangest railway that I’ve seen in Japan On weekdays, most passengers on this train are commuters so I was the first one to board this train Got the front seat!

The cable car is pulled up by the cable seen in the middle of the track Train runs very closely to the nearby houses What a fun sight Ikoma Cable travels 2 km/1.2 mi to the top of the moutain and it takes around 16 mins Running into the other train! Haha they are communicating

We are going up the hill and the views are getting better and better This train ends at Hozanji Station and here we transfer for the next train to the Ikoma Sanjo amusement park The amusement park is at 642 m/2106 ft altitude of Mt. Ikoma The next train is also a strange one!

We’ve got a strawberry cake train STRANGE By the way, I’ve got Snorlax from the Pokémon box I bought at the station Snorlax here and there Let’s go boys STRAWBERRY time The views are already getting spectacular My parents have always said the views from Ikoma Sanjo is one of the most impressive in Japan

Is it really so?? Wow Arrived at Ikoma Sanjo Station Welcome to Ikoma Sanjo amusement park They charge no admission fee but you need pay money for each ride attraction Filmed in Halloween season Happy Halloween Ikoma Sanjo operates Japan’s oldest existing ride attraction That is “Hikoutou(Airplane Tower)”, launched in 1929!

But sadly, the attraction is now suspended for repairs and maintenance… Safety first The amusement park is basically for small children but some attractions are still aimed for adults “RESTAURANT” Shutter closed “Mount Ikoma-View Restaurant” Here seems to be the only restaurant in the amusement park The must-ride attraction here is definitely Cycle Monorail

You pay 400JPY/2.8USD You row the pedal by yourself You can’t leave this park without riding this attraction Braking Not like Universal Studios or Disneyland at all but I sometimes prefer this calm atmosphere of a small amusement park Why this attraction? Here is the answer The spectacular views We should proceed more

The couple in front of me is now enjoying the view so let’s wait here That looks so fun! Our turn Look at this stunning views…. This is not the experience worth only 400JPY/2.8USD I think I should pay more money I have no words to describe how amazing the views are

We were there in Osaka in the beginning of the video Covered with clouds, the city looks like in the sky and is beautiful We can tell this amusement park is in the perfect location surrounded by the open fields There is also an observatory Have the views all to yourself

There is also a Kart circuit Powered by engine I forgot to bring GoPro so I just enjoyed the driving I did 3 laps in total There are several arcades to enjoy in the park Mini bowling Easy peasy Arcade but no one Kids cry Thank you for watching the video Rock, Scissors, Paper 1

2 3 “Paper” See you in the next travel!

  4. Newest Osaka Metro trains looks kind of serene and unearthly in my viewpoint.

  8. Sending good thoughts and prayers for you, your family and your country. Hoping for minimal damage and injury from the earthquake. Please do a quick video as you're able so your viewers know you're well.
