山陽新幹線、山陽本線、福塩線が乗り入れする駅でゲソ。新幹線は「のぞみ」も停車し、備後地方最大の駅となっているでゲソ。また、駅南口バスターミナルから芸予諸島、松山市、今治市行の高速バスも発着していて、実質的には四国方面への乗換駅としても機能しているでゲソ。エレベーターは新幹線改札内に2機、在来線改札内に3機あるでゲソ。
This station is served by the San-yo Shinkansen, San-yo Line, and Fukuen Line. The Shinkansen “Nozomi” also stops here, making it the largest station in the Bingo region. In addition, express buses bound for the Geiyo Islands, Matsuyama City, and Imabari City depart from the station’s south exit bus terminal, and it essentially functions as a transfer station for Shikoku. There are two elevators inside the Shinkansen ticket gates and three elevators inside the conventional line ticket gates.
