【東京横断の旅】後編 昔の街、新たな冒険:八王子再訪 #東京 #散策 #八王子 #サイクリング

Today, I’ll continue the Tokyo Cross Journey, Part 2, from where I left off last time I plan to explore Fuchu, Hino, and Hachioji, heading towards Takao Station Fuchu Kousatsuba Ato Bulletin boards, known as “kousatsu-ba,” were facilities established during the Edo period to post the policies and prohibitions of the shogunate.

These boards were placed in the central areas of villages and post towns. Old Koshu Kaido Honshuku Koban-mae Intersection Honshuku Village – Street Lantern The term “常夜燈” can be translated into English as “ever-burning lamp” or “eternal lamp.” In modern terms, it refers to streetlights that illuminate the night roads,

And historically, it also served the role of encouraging caution with fire in this area. From here to Kunitachi City 12 kilometers to Hachioji Yahotenmangu Shrine Yagawa 3-chome Intersection From here to Tachikawa City If there are pedestrians, prioritize pedestrians Shin-Okutamakaido Street Negawabashi Bridge Straight ahead from here… Actually, turn left Tappibashi Bridge Tamagawa River

Today, despite being late November, we have a warm day with a high temperature of 22 degrees Celsius Normally, it should be cold this time of the year, but there’s a pleasant breeze blowing Taking a break while watching the Tamatoshi Monorail. The Tamatoshi Monorail is moving at a quite leisurely pace

At this distance, it might just appear to be moving slowly… Koshu Kaido Hino-shuku Honjin A “honjin” refers to a building from the Edo period where daimyo (feudal lords) and officials staying overnight during the Sankin-kotai system.

The “Hino-juku Honjin” is the only remaining honjin building in Tokyo that was constructed during the Edo period. Entrance to Hino-shuku Honjin The appearance of the Honjin Meiji Emperor – Site of Emperor Meiji’s Resting Place in Hino In Itabashi-shuku, Shinagawa-shuku, and Senju-shuku, the buildings of the Honjin no longer remain, so…”

Seeing the Honjin building was a valuable experience I’d like to take my time exploring the inside of the Honjin building the next time I visit I regret not exploring it when I had the chance The main purpose for today is to visit Hachioji

During this season, the sun sets early, so I’ll hurry ahead. Hino Station Old Koshu Kaido Oosaka Ue 3-chome Intersection Koshu Kaido Hino Motors Headquarters 4 kilometers left to Hachioji From here to Hachioji City Takakuramachi Nishi Intersection Below here, the Hachiko Line is running 43 kilometers from Nihonbashi

Once you reach Asakawa, you’re almost at the heart of Hachioji city Oowadabashi Bridge Asakawa River Straight ahead is Koshu Kaido Keio Hachioji Station Arrived at the nostalgic Hachioji, filled with memories It’s the place where I started living alone after coming to Tokyo This town is both the starting point and the origin

I had this local real estate agency show me around and found my place in this area I still remember having lunch at Sogo after that I knew nothing about living alone, so every day was a trial and error

This town is where I met many people, had various experiences, and grew as an individual. Whether in the past or now, this town remains lively, convenient, and comfortable to live in. Many stores have disappeared, but the atmosphere around the station hasn’t changed. JR Hachioji Station Front

The building itself hasn’t changed, but ‘Sogo’ is no longer here. This area hasn’t changed much I used to go up these stairs to reach the station gate. The building to the left, where PIA is now, used to be Marui in the past. The ‘Tokyu Square’ has been replaced by ‘Octorre’

Even the miscellaneous buildings haven’t changed much Kumazawa Bookstore” is still here. I visited for the first time after the completion of the upper Mulberry Bridge, which was under construction before. I used to come to this street often for shopping as well

During the summer, there’s the Hachioji Festival, and the streets overflow with people Good memories A town that goes unnoticed by most But for me, it’s a very precious place. The place where Don Quijote is now used to be Nagasakiya in the past.

I’ve arrived in Hachioji, but since it’s not yet dark, I’d like to go to Takao Station I’m starting to feel tired, so I’m a bit worried if I can make it to Takao Hongo Yokocho Intersection Oiwakecho Intersection Nishi-Hachioji Station East Intersection 3 kilometers to go until Takao

The fatigue is reaching a point where I hesitate to stop at red lights Due to the long distance, fatigue has set in, and I can’t ride any faster I’m giving my all to pedal. 50 kilometers from Nihonbashi. 200 meters to Takao Station Turning ahead leads to Takao Station

I somehow made it Chuo Line, the westernmost station in Tokyo, Takao Station. Takao Station After arriving at Takao Station, my mind went blank with a mix of fatigue and a sense of accomplishment. I took a short break and then returned to Hachioji

First, a meal. I hadn’t eaten much, so it was natural that I lacked energy. I had Jiro-style ramen at Dada in Hachioji Nutrient replenishment for my exhausted body. It was delicious After the meal, I strolled around the nostalgic area near Hachioji Station I enjoyed the town of Hachioji

The station was, as always, bustling with people, making it a lively and vibrant place Hachioji Station North Exit I thought about staying overnight and heading back tomorrow. I’ll save some enjoyment for the next visit

If you take the Chuo Rapid Line from Shinjuku to Hachioji, it takes just under 40 minutes. Alternatively, on the Keio Line Express, it’s around 43 minutes. Trains are fast, safe, and convenient, making them highly appreciated It’s a bit sad to leave Hachioji, but it’s time to go Kuwanamikidori Avenue

South Approach Intersection of Owada Bridge Racing through Koshu Kaido and the Old Koshu Kaido You have returned to Shinjuku Imperial Palace area Please note that the screen may blur Hibiya Intersection Marunouchi Nakadori Street Tokyo Station How was this revisit to Hachioji journey?

I spent approximately half a day, 12 hours in total, making a round trip, and despite the long journey, I had a fulfilling and enjoyable time I have never cycled to the west from Sakurajosui, so it was a new experience for me It was a series of fresh and surprising experiences.

Along the Koshu Kaido and Old Koshu Kaido, historic buildings remain, continuing to tell their stories. Visiting Ōkunitama Shrine and the Honjin of Hinojuku provided an opportunity to… I became more interested in studying Japanese history after this journey I would like to continue passing on this valuable history for generations to come.

One of the goals was to challenge the limits of my physical endurance, but this time it ended at Takao Station I am not satisfied with my current physical condition in order to complete the Koshu Kaido, Tokaido, and Nakasendo, so.. I still need more training, don’t I? I’ll do my best

The revisit to Hachioji was a return to the origin. I was able to go back to the basics I will move forward, one step at a time, looking ahead while recalling the feelings of that time While thinking about the faces of my friends, I wondered if everyone is doing well and staying healthy

I haven’t contacted them in a while.maybe I should reach out to them. The video streaming series ‘Strolling in Shinjuku’ is about my time living in Hachioji, exploring the places I frequented often One ending is a new beginning Heading towards a new destination… I’m home Nihonbashi Today’s travel distance: 145 km
