🇯🇵 Cycling in Fukui: Eiheiji-chō, Relaxing Bike Ride in the Japanese Countryside [4K]

We begin our journey in the residential area of Matsuoka, on the outskirts of Eiheiji-town, heading towards the renowned Eiheiji Temple. This route guides us through quiet, low-traffic backstreets and a car-free path known as “my-road” (introduced around 31:19 in the video). As the temple is situated in the mountains, the entire route features a gradual uphill incline.

* Eiheiji Temple, founded by Dogen Zenji in 1244, is a vital Zen Buddhist monastery in Japan. Located in the mountains of Fukui Prefecture, it serves as a key center for Soto Zen training.
