Is cycling from Umeda, Osaka to Fushimi Inari, Kyoto difficult to do in the dead heat of summer?
I share the route from the Osaka side to the Kyoto side and tips for doing the bike ride with just an ordinary(ish) bike. Anyone can do this route! It’s safe for anyone even solo.

Welcome to DIY Japan Travel. I’ll try to show you places and things to do in Japan that are less touristy. I want to explore the lesser known parts of Japan. The real Japan.

  1. Hey D, the ride was really fun. Watching it was like hitting the rewind button, really cool. That drone footage makes the difference. Real nice. Can't wati to head out again.

  2. Hi, is it some kind of rule that bikes must be in train in carry bags? I was in Osaka 10 times during years 2005-2010 and remembers bikes in train only on Eizan line to Yase-Hieizanguchi Station and Eizan cable car to mount Hiei near Kyoto, but I didn't remeber anyone to cary bike in bag in train and I travel by trains almost every free weekends.

  3. I love cycling so much. I use my bike every day to go most anywhere I need. I can't wait to fully recover so I can do some actual travel style biking. I'd love to bike to Uji for some matcha pizza! 🤣
