京都の南北の通りである富小路通を北の端（丸太町通との交差点）から南の端（上珠数屋町通との交差点）まで自転車で走った車載動画です。

This is a video taken from a car of a bicycle ride along Tominokoji-dori, a north-south street in Kyoto, from the northern end (the intersection with Marutamachi-dori) to the southern end (the intersection with Kami-Jyuzuyamachi-dori).

In this video, we will take you through the streets of Kyoto,
which are said to be shaped like a checkerboard.
I ride my bike (and walk where I can’t) at a leisurely pace.
I hope to be able to show you around the city along the way.

富小路通（とみのこうじどおり）
京都市中京区から下京区にかけてある南北の通りで
豊臣秀吉の天正の地割によって作られた道。
不思議な話ではあるが、
平安京時代の富小路は現在の麩屋町通となる。
麩屋町通は現在の富小路通の一筋東側の通りで、
なぜ旧富小路通が麩屋町通になり、
天正の地割によって作られた現在の富小路通が、
富小路となったのかは不明である

Tominokoji Street
A north-south street that runs from Nakagyo Ward to Shimogyo Ward in Kyoto City.
It was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s Tensho land division.
It’s a strange story, but
Tominokoji Street during the Heian period became the current Fuyacho Street.
Fuyacho Street is a street one block east of the current Tominokoji Street,
and it is unclear why the old Tominokoji Street became Fuyacho Street,
and the current Tominokoji Street, built by the Tensho land division,
became Tominokoji.
