The Reality of Bikepacking Mallorca: Blocked Paths and Fenced Roads
Cycling the world – Europe: 162 episode
In the first episode of my bikepacking adventure on the island of Mallorca, I arrive at Palma port by ferry late at night and face the challenge of finding a campsite outside the locked port. After navigating through fenced areas and a long detour, I finally set up camp and get some rest. The next day, I address a creaking sound from my bike’s cranks with a bit of cleaning and tightening before leaving Palma along the coast. The touristy areas prompt me to hit the trails, only to find many paths blocked by fences and gates, leading to numerous detours and backtracking. As night falls, I struggle to find a campsite but eventually settle in a quiet spot to cook tortellini and sleep comfortably. The journey continues with more challenges navigating through rural and dirt roads, but I finally hit a Via Verde and camp next to it after sunset. The following day, I attempt to cross mountains but must backtrack to paved roads, push my bike across a beach, and finally reach Alcudia. I embark on a trail in the dark, aiming for a camping area that doesn’t exist but manage to find water and a flat spot to camp on the GR-221 hiking trail, which crosses the Sierra de Tramuntana.

I think your dji action camera is much better footage compared to the go pro
Davide, you seem to always have tortellini on you—even in Algeria. Easy to get in all places?
Thanks again for the vistas and the great postcards!!!
bonsoir davide si un jour tu revient en algerie vient en kabylie il ya de belle montagnes
Thanks for your visit Algeria and welcome nathr time in algeria
Beautiful country, what do you recomend to navigate on bike tours? I was thinking of some cheap navigation, because on my three day trip my phone battery was dying all the time and i had to recharge it at petrol stations etc
I wonder how they build all those fences lol. Looks like a lot of work for nothing
I can imagine how you get the discount on the boat. Someone got you padron in Baleares, like that you have 75% discount on boats and planes.
I guarantee you that all that in the god damned USA would have no trespassing signs.😅😅😮
Italian is clearly the best language for telling an erring bus driver to p*** off.
Mallorca, together with uk, is the most private property owned land in europe
By the way, camping in a tent is illegal in mayorca
Wow, what a varied trail you had Davide, some of it looked amazing. That final climb over those rocks looked like an energy sapper!! Buen camino mi amigo
What is the easiest gas stove bottle to get on the shops ?
