1553 [Camping] [4K] Casual camping and BBQ! Souka Park, Soka City, Saitama Prefecture Campsite Introduction Heading to the campsite for the first time. The location is Soka City, Saitama Prefecture. The name is Souka Park Campsite. ■Basic information about the campsite The campsite is located in a park. In addition to the campsite, there is a tennis court. There is a clubhouse and a restaurant. There are many other facilities. The campsite opened in 2004. You can do day camping and BBQ. You can also pitch a tent and stay overnight. Tents are not available for rental. Advance reservations are required. There are 5 stoves, a water supply and an ash disposal area. The parking lot can accommodate 351 cars. Open all year round except for the New Year holidays. There are morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session is from 9:30 to 15:00. The afternoon session is from 15:30 to 21:00. The overnight stay is from 3:30pm to 9am the following morning. Reservations can be made by phone or at the clubhouse counter. You will be entered into a lottery by phone. If there are spaces available after the lottery, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee is 1000 yen for a half-day stay. For overnight stays, it is 2000 yen. For non-neighborhoods, the fee is 50% higher. Check the website for details. ■ Heading to the park We are now close to the park. This time we are heading there to check the area out. Turn right and you will find the parking lot. It is crowded, even though it is a Sunday morning. There are several parking lots open. We have arrived at the park’s parking lot. It can accommodate several dozen cars. We get out of the car. There are other facilities besides the campsite. We make our way through the park. This is the first parking lot. The clubhouse is in front of the parking lot. Turn right and you will find a vending machine. You can see the food truck in the back. Check the second parking lot. Walk a little further and you will reach the second parking lot. There is still space available here. Enter the path from the parking lot. The promenade continues. There is a water source nearby. There is a signboard, so check it out. Bicycles are not allowed in the park. This is a map of the park. We are currently at the bottom. The campsite is at the very back at the top. ■Heading to the campsite We head to the campsite using the map as our guide. It is a beautiful place surrounded by trees. The birds are singing loudly. We can see a tennis court in the back right. It looks like we will need a cart to get to the campsite. There is a baseball field in the back right. We turn left and continue on. It looks like a warehouse for storing equipment. We can see a plaza in front of us. There is a person sitting on a bench relaxing. Pets are not allowed in the plaza. The park rules are written here as well. We go a little further and find a toilet. The plaza looks like a good place for a picnic. If we go to the right, we will find a vending machine. We can see the field beyond the fence. We go back along the path and continue further. The atmosphere has changed and it is now a forest. It looks like there is a path on the left as well. From this point onwards the road turns to gravel. There is also a path into the forest here. I can see the second toilet on the left. This is the third vending machine. ■ Check the site The campsite seems to be around here. There is a campsite sign on the left. I can’t go in directly because someone is using it. I make a detour and look around as much as I can. I can see the site from behind the toilet. I go along the edge. It feels like a campsite in the forest. There are a row of covered water areas. There are benches and numbered stoves. You must take all your rubbish home with you. There are several benches and stoves lined up. The site seems to end around here. To the left continues the path we saw on the way. It seems you can stay overnight too. The ground is covered with a carpet of fallen leaves. The birds’ chirping is soothing. I wonder if tents are pitched inside the site? There are traffic cones prohibiting smoking. The ground is soil with some roots. In the middle is a green carpet. The rules of the campsite are written there. We’ve returned to the water source. That’s all for checking out the campsite. ■ Stroll through the park We walk through the forest back to the parking lot. The atmosphere around here is also nice. We come out to an open space in the forest. We go down the slope on the left. The cool breeze is nice. We also checked this path on our way here. We turn right and take a walk through the park. It looks like we could have a picnic in the space. We go back to the path on the right. A little further on we can see a pond. It’s quite wide and continues deep into the park. A river flows towards the pond. We turn left along the way and walk near the river. The sound of the water is soothing. In the summer, playing in the water would be a good way to cool off. A little further on we can see the playground equipment. Children are playing there. We can see the river and cars on the right. There was a vending machine here too. We are currently at the upper left of the park. We go around and head back. There’s also lots of greenery on the left, which looks nice. The blue net is under tree maintenance. We can see the third toilet on the left. 場です。 ■Close up the park. … Turn right and head back to the car. We’ve returned to the car. ■ Chairing in the plaza We have some time, so we chair. We’ll bring a pop-up tent with us. We’ll take out the things we won’t be using, like the gas burner. Only side bags and a tent. We can’t use our bikes, so we’ll walk. It’ll be even more difficult if we’re camping. We’ve returned to the plaza near the center. We’ll look for a place to relax. We’ll spend some time looking at the pond from around here. We’ll check how big the tent is. We’ve set up our tent and other equipment in the plaza. The view from the front. The view from diagonally in front. The view from the side. The view from diagonally behind. The view from directly behind. We liked being under the cherry tree. We took off our sandals and sat in a chair. We could see a fountain in the distance. We’d spend some time listening to the birds singing. We’d prepare a mini table. We’d make some drip coffee and drink it. It was a Coleman mug. You can’t use gas or other fires in the park. I brought hot water from home into a bottle. I can make something like instant ramen. This time I’m eating a rolled bun. I put my trash in a bag to take home. I open the drip coffee package. I cut along the top cut line. I spread the handle and place it on the cup. I open the bottle cap. I start by pouring in a little bit of hot water. I wait for the coffee beans to steam. I wait a little while before pouring in the hot water. I put the lid on to avoid spilling. I remove the coffee filter. I put the filter in the bag. I enjoy my coffee. I’ve made some delicious coffee. I drink it while looking at the view. I eat the rolled bun I brought with me. It’s a classic, old-fashioned taste. It’s delicious with coffee. ■Summary To summarize the campsite. I parked in the parking lot and walked to the back. You need to make a reservation in advance to get to the campsite. This time I went for a walk in the park to check it out. There is lots of nature, such as trees and ponds. We could also hear the birds singing. We pitched a tent in the square and spent the time there. The atmosphere was great and we were soothed by nature. To be continued next time.
