Find Your Japan ANA SFC Monk’s Rest Shimanami Sea Route Roadside Stations, Observatories, and Recommended Side Stops Drive up and down the route and back! Round trip on the Nishi-Seto Expressway (Shimanami Kaido) from Matsuyama to Onomichi visited for SFC training Northern part of Imabari City For this trip, it is impossible to go back and forth on the Shinanami Kaido by bicycle because it is an impossible game, We will bring you the charms of the Shimanami Kaido while visiting bridges, observatories, and roadside stations by car. Wow – the building has a nostalgic feel. I wonder if it’s a dormitory of some shipyard or something, it feels like life! Sunrise Itoyama Imabari Cycling Terminal There are 10 bike rental places from Imabari to Onomichi. A postcard-like Shimanami sign. This is where we start our car trip, not by bicycle. The first crossing of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge from Imabari is about 60 km from now. The Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge is about 4 km long with three bridges. It is a magnificent bridge. From Route 317, take the E76 Shimanami Kaido to the Nishi-Seto Expressway. Imabarikita Interchange Now, drive safely and observe the speed limit! Finally, the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. Wow! Looks like a tough climb for cyclists. Good luck! Kurushima Strait Bridge Now Wow, there are a lot of bicyclists. It is indeed a famous place. Oshima Landing Now Exit at the Oshima-Minami Interchange. We are heading for the most spectacular view on the Shimanami Kaido, designed by that Kengo Kuma. We are heading for Kirosan Observation Park where you can view the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge from Oshima. Head east on Route 317 and turn right here. From here, the road is a sloping mountain road. Wow, that’s great! That’s amazing! There was also a viewing area on the way to the summit. We might as well just stay here since we don’t have much time. Kirosan Observation Deck This view was spectacular. It is quite amazing. The summit was crowded with cars, so we gave up on Kirosan Observation Park. Oshima North Interchange The Hakata-Oshima Bridge, which crosses from Oshima to Hakata Island, is about 1,165 meters long in total. Oshima Big Bridge The Omishima Bridge comes into view. Finally, we are at Omishima. Omishima Bridge Enter Omishima and get off at the interchange again. Don’t get off a little bit and get expensive~! The large Tatara Bridge came into view in front of us. Two islands and 890 yen? Shabboooon…… Omishima Interchange Oh, hey, that was 540 yen. I feel like I got something for it. Tatara Shimanami Park The beautiful Seto Inland Sea and the Tatara Ohashi Bridge are picturesque. The scenery is typical of the Shimanami Sea Route. The Bell of Happiness Got sister Akko style. The one who rings that bell…me. LOL. The bells are very loud. It seems to bother the neighbors a lot. This place is also picturesque. Many people were taking pictures of the Tatara Bridge along the sea. Roadside Station: Tarara Shimanami Park Since it is in the Setouchi area, there are many different citrus fruits! I’ll buy and eat a variety. And best of all, it’s great value for money. The roadside station’s specialty center had a variety of souvenirs and local specialties. Is this a sea bream from the Seto Inland Sea? Is it for aquaculture? Sea bream is full of taurine and energizing. What’s next? Flounder? I also like Engawa sushi. Here we are at last! Here is a sacred place for cyclists in Tatara Shimanami Park. Sanctuary for Cyclists Monument Now it’s food time! What shall we eat? How I love it! I bought it. Octopus salsa dock! Heh~ Bicycles without stands are placed like this. I didn’t know that. What is it with these ordinary vending machines? 1,330 yen! Valve tubes, parts? But I’m not a cyclist, so I’ll buy a drink for humans! Since I have been in Australia, I always have a flat white if I can find one. I love octopus. Nice to meet you, Octopus Salsa Doc! It’s awesome. This is a delicious one! Please try the "Octopus Salsa Dog," which is typical of the Shimanami Kaido. I found another one. Akoya scallops and turban shells, but of course octopus rice! This is octopus rice. I’ll have some. Chewy and delicious! Omishima Interchange Again, we will take the Shimanami Kaido and cross the Tatara Ohashi Bridge to Ikuchijima. Finally, you will cross the Tatara Ohashi Bridge, the longest bridge on the Shimanami Kaido (1,500 meters). Tatara Bridge Now There are no words to describe the view of the Seto Inland Sea as you cross the bridge. It is beautiful! Ikuchijima Island Now To reach Innoshima from Ikuchijima, cross the 790-meter Ikuchibashi Bridge. Ikuchi Bridge Now This side is also clear and very beautiful. Oh no, there is a motorcycle in the other lane on the left. Heh~ It’s not the same as a car. Crossing to Innoshima Island, we are taking a break at Ohama PA before the Innoshima Ohashi Bridge that crosses to the next island, Mukojima. From Imabari, we have come to Oshima, Hakatajima, Omishima, Ikuchijima, and Innoshima, and next to Mukojima for the last time. The cables of the Innoshima Bridge are so thick. Surprise donkey! There is a stone monument, but the bridge doesn’t look good. LOL Yes, the smoking area is here. Ohama Parking Area Upward Route Highway Shop Now It is a restaurant for drivers, but there are also a variety of souvenirs and snacks. What is this, HASAKU SOFT and SHIONAMI SOFT? Hassaku jelly from Innoshima, this one is a must buy! I bought a mix of hassaku and shionami. This makes me happy. Mmmm, this one is delicious and I recommend it for its Shimanami Kaido-like soft serve ice cream. To go from Innoshima to Mukojima, we will now cross the Innoshima Ohashi Bridge. You can see it now, can’t you? Innoshima Bridge Now You can see the ocean all the way from Shimanami Kaido, which is soothing to the soul. We have entered Mukojima, and if we continue on, we will be in Onomichi, but I would like to get off here as well. Mukojima Interchange Onomichi Ohashi Bridge Now I was surprised to see the Onomichi Ohashi Bridge immediately after exiting the Mukojima Interchange. I guess this is the Shin-Omichi Ohashi Bridge. We conquered the uphill line from Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture to Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture! Yay! They say it takes an hour if you don’t make any stops, but we made many stops, so it took us about half a day! This is the end of the tour, but there are many places along the Shimanami Kaido where you would like to make a side trip. Would you like to make a few more stops? Support us by subscribing to our channel! I’m going on the return trip after the outward trip! Because, because, there are too many side trip points on the Shimanami Kaido. Next morning Onomichi NOW Since I gained knowledge of the Shimanami Kaido on the outward trip, I will focus on the points of interest on the return trip. In the foreground is the toll road, Shin-Omichi Ohashi, and in the background is the free Onomichi Ohashi, which crosses to Mukojima. Onomichi Ohashi Bridge Now From Mukojima Interchange to Imabari Yes, we are entering the Shimanami Kaido. Innoshima Bridge Now The view from Innoshima Ohashi Bridge on the way back is great! Take a little longer and enjoy it. 5 times faster than the current speed Ikuchibashi Bridge Now Looking at Iwakijima from Ikuchijima. There is a big ship at the shipyard. The Shimanami Sea Route and the Seto Inland Sea are quiet and beautiful. The Tatara Bridge is now in sight. We are almost at Omishima. Tatara Bridge Now Five times faster. Kamiura Parking Area Downward The Kamiura PA on Omishima, where we stopped for a restroom break, was a particularly empty place. Now we are back here. Omishima Bridge Now It’s bad. It’s kind of turning into a bridge mania video. LOL. Hakata Bridge and Oshima Bridge Now 5 times faster than the current speed Kurushima Strait Bridge Now Five times faster. Shimanami Kaido Round trip between Imabari and Onomichi was achieved with up and down lines! Let’s go to Kurushima Strait SA, where we could not go on the outward journey. Kurushima Strait SA I stopped at Kurushima Kaikyo SA on the way back since it was not available on the way up. Shimanami sign and Kurushima Strait Bridge It was a memorable drive in my life. Thank you Shimanami Kaido! The facilities at service areas these days are amazing. I didn’t know that chicken skin and senzanki are Imabari’s specialties. Shimashima Naminami? This is the first time I have heard of it. Imabari is indeed Ehime Prefecture. It is full of delicious mandarin orange juice. Jako-ten or octopus tempura, that’s it! I hear octopus tempura is also delicious. Both taimeshi (sea bream) and kaisendon (seafood bowl) are yummy. It is a service area cafeteria, but it looks quite tasty. What would they be doing? What a surprise, there are high-performance massage chairs where you can have a massage while enjoying the spectacular view. It relieves me from stress. A camera stand across the street? Who the hell are you? Tana? (ZEO family adventure style) This is a video for promoting the Shimanami Kaido, which is like a theater where the images can be seen at 270 degrees. Now, let’s have the taste you can’t go wrong with, jako katsu! Here it comes~~! It’s hot and delicious! Atch! Still, it was a tasty one. It tastes soooo much like Jako. The Jako Katsu is also freshly fried and delicious, the kind you can’t go wrong with. Setouchi Lemon Salt Soft. It also looks delicious! Only one soft serve ice cream per day. With only a few days left, it is deeply moving to think that this is the end of the Shimanami Kaido trip. But maybe he really just wants to eat soft ice cream. Now, let’s go to Imabari Castle. Bye-cha! Nasamin Plaza Find Your Japan Please support us by subscribing to our channel.
