We meet Mr. Youson again, a cool dude who has brought Bali back to the shores of Japan and let us stay at his place for free and also treated us to breakfast. We meet a lovely couple that gifted us some of their homemade snacks. We eat some very unsatisfying crab. We discover an abandoned highway and, of course, we see some beautiful sights. If you’re new to this channel, please consider subscribing. Now, on with the show. Good morning from Jōetsu. I thought I’d bust out the cooker and make the eggs I’ve been carrying around. But just as I’m whipping these eggs up, Youson, the owner of this place, comes by and drops off a couple delicious -looking sandwiches. And so, I was like, damn, why did I start cooking? But these eggs don’t look too bad either, though. Come check out what Youson came and dropped off for us. Looks like bacon, tomato, a little BLT with egg. All right. All right. And then what’d you pick up? I got a bunch of stuff. A little combini -ron with some onigides, some bread, aquarius. Some dried squid. And some dried squid. Already. A little coffee for me. We’re going to have a good breakfast. And then I whipped up some of the eggs that we’ve been carrying around, man. All right. All right. Yeah, man. I’ll get the peanut butter out then. Let’s do it. You know, I eat good for breakfast and then you hit the rope. Hell yeah. Where to begin? I don’t think I’m going to begin with the sandwich. Yeah. I went in there and got water this morning. I saw them cooking up something. Oh, my God. I was not gonna ask him. He just brought it out. Nice guy. I thought he was just whipping up something for himself What a place What a place So this is something … YouTube What? Is that… What is this? CIMIMO CIMIMO? Does this mean something to you? I believe that’s the truth You believe that’s the truth I believe that’s it If you want to check out Google Maps, click on the link below It’s great I’m gonna have Instagram one Do you want to get connected or do you want to do something together? Let me start Let’s get toego Let’s get toego Let me get some stuff Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Do you know the name of this bar? No, it’s Maitoshi. Maitoshi? No, it’s not. It’s a good name. In Indonesia, it’s a good name. No, it’s a good name. It’s a good name. It’s a good name. So, we’re in the cafe, and it’s open. What’s the name of this bar? It’s called Sangatukara. What’s the name of this bar? It’s called Free Space. Free Space. It’s called Barika. It’s a rental. It’s a rental. It’s very nice. It’s very nice. Okay, you can use this. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you. So, it really does feel like a Bali souvenir shop in here, like a lot of stuff. He said he does bring back from Indonesia, from Bali, and so, yeah, you can tell. Come check it out. Come to Umeneko Cafe here in Jowetsu. Nice guy. Bintang. Look at these sandals. Fucking Merumpa. Merumpa. Nice. Merumpa, let’s do it. The Kubiki Bicycle and Walker Road. Looks like it might go all along the coast. I was kind of worried because going down this side on the coast, being in Japan, you’re on the left side of the road, so you don’t, you know, you’re riding next to the coast, but you’re not as close to it. And so, I guess this way, we’re going to have a good view the whole way. Looking forward to it, Nick. Yep. Let’s do it. Yes. Oh, my gosh, it’s freezing. Ayo! Ayo! Don’t leave this guy. How much more is it? $20 is more? $20 is more. I have no idea what it is. I have no idea what it is. What do you think it is? It’s about $20. $20 is more than $20. $20 is more than $20. So, I have to go to the store. Not to sell all the stuff. I have to go to the store. This is a nice present from the owners. Awesome. Thank you. Thank you. Nice flaky crust. Got some weight. do it too. Amazing. Amazing. I love it. So nice. And she just gave us a drink, a yogurt drink. Awesome. I love these too. First little pit stop for today. First little town we actually rolled into. And it looks like a little seafood restaurant area. Obviously we’re next to the sea. And what they’re doing here is they’re eating crab. A bunch of a bunch of crab. Let’s go check it out. Every single place here. That’s just loads and loads of crab. Ready to be. Come over here and get your bucket of crab. So we we’ve already ordered. We’re just waiting for somebody to get up so we can eat ours. Let’s take a look at our guy. Hey. Yeah. Big boy. Big boy. No butter though. They can just eat it as is. Oh the juices are coming out. Oh the juices. The juice. Look at that guy. Oh damn. oh yeah that comes straight out yeah that did huh i personally like dipping it in some hot butter hot garlic butter or something like that but i don’t think they do that here you know what you’re doing there yeah these these you don’t eat then you’ve got to get to the good stuff down here all of the meat in there yeah yeah all right let’s try and crack it in the half for you just finished the crab i don’t know it’s okay i don’t know it’s not worth the price i guess while you’re here you’re by the sea get it but it’s not something i would for sure but i am excited about this guy how is it it’s good it’s great sweet nice and soft man yeah fluffy not too sweet though but it has a nice texture kind of thick and that swirly stuff in the middle is nice couldn’t tell you what a river this is but it’s beautiful still got snow in the mountains back there crazy not much to look at over here though it’s pretty crazy so the highway we’re on right now they’ve built the new the new road the new bridge right here and this is obviously the old one that they use and from here it looks like you can actually take the stairs all the way down to the ocean if you want but we’re not gonna do that we just want to come back here and just take a look and just see how nature has taken everything over again it’s crazy to think though this used to be the road makes you wonder when they shut this road down let me show you real quick what it looks like over the edge hold on to the camera so it’s pretty cool right this road just hugs the cliff line right here kind of reminds me of that the East Coast and in Taiwan last year I have to say it was a little more beautiful that day maybe just because the cliffs were a little higher and the sea was a little bluer that day but it’s pretty nice too hey what’s up good luck man hey good timing The abandoned road. What’s your name? Nick? Benjamin. Benjamin. Nice to meet you. Nick. What’s next? That’s nice. Nick D and Nick K. Where are you headed? Where are you headed to? Today it took a while. It took a while. Beautiful. Spoke too soon. This is actually pretty nice. Another thing I’ve noticed, I don’t know why, but all the lookout points have been closed off, so people can’t even stop here to go to look over the edge. I guess we could because we’re on bikes, but I don’t know why. I don’t know why they’re doing that, but it kind of sucks, I guess. And we got a big hill to climb. Let’s do it. And that’s what we just did. Crazy. We just stopped off at this little hotel over here to charge the phones and batteries and everything because uh, yeah, they’re dying and Not as easy as it was in pretty much every other country Um stopped off for an onigiri break Doko kara from nigata station nigata station like a racer this car. Yes 535 walking Wow, that’s crazy. So I was just telling nick that there’s people in taiwan that walk around The uh the island in taiwan just people just walk in it’s crazy And uh sure enough people do that sort of thing here in japan too. Just walk 535 kilometers What’s that like 250 miles? uh So i’m on a road right now that cut through uh that cuts through the middle of this town Nick got ahead of me a little ways and uh went up stay on the highway, which meant that he had to go up a big ass hill and then down i’m hoping he’s waiting for me up here, but I don’t know he pulled ahead of me and uh I saw him way up the hill and I was like wait a second the map is telling me to cut through this town And uh, I don’t want to go up the hill. So i’m hoping I can I could meet him over here And that looks like an abandoned building House is here really nice Yeah Look at that This is like kind of like rich in my body We are in the uh, the rich countryside of Japan it looks like and all the houses are freaking beautiful look at this one but uh we’re kinda in this no man’s land right now we don’t really know where we’re gonna go we don’t have anywhere to stay we’re just kind of heading towards Toyama so I don’t know it’s kind of getting dark but we’re gonna go find the cycling path and it looks pretty chill and it’s all flat so we’re just gonna ride until we see something and I’m sure we will but look at that Japan is beautiful I have no idea what that is if you know what that is let me know but it looks extra fuzzy What do you know we wound up at another on this? this one is a It’s a private one. It’s not public. It’s not free. You know it kind of looks like it would be in a way It’s a smaller one Still looks like it’s gonna be 470 yen But it looks like from the map. This is like an old -school one like an old -style Sinto you got the women on one side the men on the other there’s gonna be a lady I think on the other side just taking tickets that you Taking your your onsen ticket, so But man, we booked it today. We went over a hundred K again I’m exhausted Nick T for whatever reason freakin ginky as hell and Found a lot of energy that I don’t have somehow. I’m ready for another hundred K I I’m not and so we still know where we’re gonna stay, but we are gonna Take a bath. We’ll get a bite to eat and looks like there’s a lot of green Stuff around here, so hopefully there’s some parks that we can just post up at but first things first. Let’s Let’s soak the body This is where we call it a night At the ocean right over there, I don’t know if you can see it, but We’re just kind of post up in this small little nice well -groomed park right here. We got a couple trees that we kind of hopefully stealthily put the tin up but Everything closes really early in this town, so we had to do a convene run, so we weren’t really hoping to do that, but Luckily there wouldn’t luckily there was a convenience store close by and now we got some food. I am exhausted tired And I’m gonna call it a call the night so thanks for watching guys, and I’ll see you in the morning in the next video

  1. Hi Nick, you once posted a map of Japan where you indicated the entire route from North to South. I'm having trouble finding this map. Don’t remember in which episode it was. I think it would be fun to follow how far you covered of the whole route so far. I really do envy you for this trip!. A strong buddy helps to keep on going. Nice people you’ve met on the way too, the guy of the Balinese café is so cool.

  2. Your homemade breakfast looks so good, I want to eat it so much, haha!

It would be a pity to eat such a big crab as it is. I support your idea of adding garlic and butter!

I’m very happy that you often mention Taiwan. I believe you miss those days in Taiwan very much!

The farmland you passed looks like the countryside in southern Taiwan, which is very interesting!

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful day, well done! 👍😍👏

  3. Ask Yuu san go to Pangandaran Beach ( Jawa Barat), yes Indonesia not just Bali😊, in Pangandaran you can enjoying Beach as well in Bali.
Nice vlog Nick K and T!

  4. Watching this while on my 18-6 IF 😂Breakfast looking good! Yummy looking foods along the ways except for that crab. I like crab meat 😂 The houses have similarities with the houses in the 🇺🇸. Also the view reminds me of Bellingham and Mt. Vernon, WA. Be safe Nick 🙏

  5. If you ever visit Joetsu again, please stop by Umineko Terrace!
We wish Nick and everyone a wonderful journey ahead!
    Best regards,

    Ryuta from the Umineko staff
