あのハーレー乗りのその後。

No matter what kind of motrocycle it is,
even if it is a CUB,
people who love their motorcycle are cool.
Anyway, as long as I like it, that’s all that matters.
What is the appeal of a vintage Harley to you?
I simply love the beauty of the knucklehead engine sculpting the best in all Harleys.

I have a personal preference,
but my bike is about 80 years old,
and I feel romanticism and affection
for such an old bike running around the city.
I am not going to
customize it from what it is now.
I know that people who like to customize their bikes
will make various modifications
but I love my knuckle-head very much in its current state.
So I’ll keep riding it as it is.
I have seen many motorcyclists and
sometimes get sense of a complex
about the model of the bike from those around them.
I think it’s kind of unfortunate.
If they have a bike they like,
just ride the bike they like.
In terms of performance,
the latest current motorcycles are the best.
It is important to know
how you want to incorporate it into your daily life.
If you want to ride comfortably,
the latest current models are most suitable.
It’s for the best.
Naturally, in that case it is more suitable than older bikes.
Customization is something that
requires a lot of time and effort to change parts such as
the seat, muffler, steering wheel, etc.
But actually,
if the fashion of the rider changes,
the bike looks completely different.
For example, the way a motorcycle looks in
summer and winter clothing is completely different.
I think that alone makes it custom in a way.
The way a motorcycle looks and rides
when a person rides it is more important.
The same bike looks different if ridden by different people.
So I believe that the rider can be part of the customization.
That is why it is so deep and interesting.
Especially when we are young,
when we start riding motorcycles,
we want to look cool.
Of course!
Not only when I was young!
I still feel the same way,
I ride because I want to look cool.
Generally,
such feelings gradually disappear with age.
That may be so.
As their potbellies start to show,
they gradually become indifferent to their own fashions.
Instead, they get to show off their bike parts.
I think there is a tendency to do that.
But it’s important to try not to.
So, as you just said,
it’s important to keep the feeling that
"I’m riding a motorcycle to be cool."
But I think everyone rides with the feeling that
they are cool, including fashion.
That’s fine, because we are free to do so, including fashion.
About that incident.
The incident is discussed in detail in the first piece,
so interested molds should click on the link
in the upper right corner.
There was customer
who continued to come to the store when I was an employee
and when I opened my own beauty salon.
It’s kind of hard to say,
I got an investment scam from him.
Now that a certain amount of time has passed since
the shocking incident, have your feelings changed?
He was someone I trusted very much,
but the shock of being betrayed
has worn off considerably.
It’s been over a year now.
No, it was different.
It’s been about two years now.
Anyway,
if I didn’t get rid of it fast and fast enough,

I was going to crush myself.
It’s more like a power play.
I tried to create as open an atmosphere as possible.
It is easy to hide the fact
that one has been deceived
because it is embarrassing.
So it is difficult to say to others.
So I tried to be as open as possible.
I made a conscious effort to do so.
Did the damage you suffered, on the other hand,
change the way you think or gain something from it?
Let me know if you see those sides.
Of course there was.
Some of the people I have met because of it.
It also changed my outlook on life.
Very…
valuable…
It gave me a very valuable experience.
If you ask me if I want to experience it again,
I don’t, but
I don’t know what…
I don’t know what will happen in the future.
I want to be flexible enough to accept whatever comes my way.
I wish I could be.
When you say your outlook on life has changed,
how exactly has it changed?
It turned out that
there were many people
who help me.
Various people cared about me.
Some people actually brought financial assistance.
brought financial assistance.

These people reached out to me without saying a word.
I was able to come in contact with such people.
I thought that by interacting with these people,
I would like to be of help to them if they were in need.

Without being complacent that I helped them,
I want to be a person who can reach out
I want to be there for them
Just doing so,
I think,
will give them the energy to live.
But I’ve already changed my mind,
So I don’t regret the past.
When I interviewed you before,
I think you were very mentally driven,
like being dazed alone in a store until 2 or 3 am,
or not noticing a red light.
Did you feel that you were mentally driven to that point at the time,
but have you recovered much better now that time has passed?
What can I say,
after all,
As for my having been deceived,
I feel I have no choice.
But in my case,
my friends were also…
involved.
The biggest thing is that
we were able to solve that.
Above all, that was the most important thing.
What I think about motorcycle customization.
Nowadays, old motorcycles are very popular
and very expensive, including old Harley-Davidsons.
Then…
Some of the customers who come to my salon
also want to ride old Harleys.
But he is already riding a domestic bike now,
for example Japanese amrican style or
Kawasaki or Honda,
But he still wants an old Harley.
Why do you want it?
The bike you are riding now is very cool, isn’t it?

He says he has fallen in love with vintage Harleys.
I don’t think looks can tell whether or not
a vintage bike rides well for the person in question.
It is important to love the bike he is riding now,
and it doesn’t matter what type of bike it is.
For example, Honda’s Cub is small,
but if you love and ride it with all your heart,
you are so cool.
What do you think about the "branding" of vintage motorcycles
in recent years due to their price hikes?
Older motorcycles are not going to increase in number
no matter how hard we try.
This makes them scarce and
this inevitably increases the value of the brand.
Then there are those who focus on the "this part is worth $5,000" or…
call the old motorcycles a luxury motorcycle.
Boasting about their brands are noticeable.
I believe that asserting the value of one’s parts is
one expression of one’s particular.
I think it is very nice.
It is natural that the person would want attention
to be paid to the parts of the bike…
that he or she is particular about.
And it is up to each person to be what particular about.
That’s one way to have fun.
If you like what you’re doing, whatever you’re doing is fine.
About your tattoo
Perhaps because of the tattoos all over your body,
many people commented on your last video and said that
the gap between your appearance and your story was amazing.
I think they wanted to know the background of
how you got so many tattoos all over your body in Japan,
where there is no tattoo culture.
How about that?
The gap between appearance and behavior is not something
I consciously create.
Like motorcycles,
I see tattoos as part of my fashion.
If there is anything else, it is that as a hairdresser,
I had more freedom in my fashion than in other professions.
There is no deeper meaning behind the tattoos.
I carve designs on my body that I like.
I like Polynesian tattoos designs.
I simply love that design.
And I wanted to unify my tattoos with it.
There is no policy in place there that can be explained to others.
I don’t have a policy to begin with.
Is the feeling of getting a tattoo
similar to wearing clothes you like?
Yes, I think so.
Besides, I’ve been…
It’s kind of,
you know…
I’ve been scammed and…

left penniless,
But I’m glad the tattoos make me look clothed
even when I’m naked.
About my work as a hairdresser.
I can hone my skills,
offer them to my clients,
make them happy,
and even get paid for it.
I take pride in such work.
I love my work.
As a business owner,
I understand the value of
having multiple stores expantion of my own.
So I respect my peers who are able to do that.
Having a lot of employees is great.
On the other hand,

I think men especially should…
I think men should have their own store,
so I want to help my employees to have their own store.
By doing so,
I can have a much better relationship with them.
I want to send out employees with support.
To do so, I need to stabilize my store’s management base.
Some of the employees actually
started their own businesses from this store?
Of course there are.
I still have employee,
some of whom have gone independent in the past.
Everyone is doing their best.
What I aim to achieve.
It is sufficient if the status quo is maintained.
I live a very frugal life.
Sometimes, the day after I treat my staff to a meal,
I eat only rice to keep expenses down.
I live a frugal life like that.
I have no money,
no popularity,
and no skills,
but I manage to do it
with the support of a few benevolent customers.
If I can continue this life
I will be happy.
What I want to tell young people.
Hairdressers are often described as a demanding profession,
with long hours,
low pay,
hierarchical relationship, etc.
When I first became a hairdresser,
I worked in a medium-sized beauty salon with about 20 people.
I had five peers.
I was the only male;
the other four were all women.
I was very cocky.
I was about 19 years old.
It happened one day during cleaning time.
The staff is given time to clean up in the evenings,
but I didn’t have much to do.
in the back room,
The stylists were sitting side by side.
There they were reading pretentious English magazines
like ELLE Japan and Vogue.
They sat in a line in a predetermined order:
manager, assistant manager, and stylist
I was sitting at the far end of the room during cleaning time,
reading a comic book magazine.
It is a manga magazine called Jump.
There was a man named Nakatacchi who was three years my senior.
I gave him the nickname "Nakatacchi" behind his back.
He yelled at me with a great swagger.
Hey Suzuki!
You!
You’re the only guy out of the five in your peers,
so help the girls out!
He yelled at me that way in the back room.
What the hell is this asshole?
I thought.
Nakatacchi was a bit of a coward.
So I thought that he was trying to show me his power
by vilifying me in front of the stylists,
I had such evil thoughts,
Because I was young at the time.
But looking back now, nearly 30 years later,
I think it is valuable that
I still remember vividly what I was pissed.
It means that I only remember those
who were seriously angry with me.
Looking back,
I am now grateful to those
who lovingly and seriously scolded me.
I don’t remember bland, safe conversations.
I was not able to thank my seniors
who scolded me with love despite their harshness,
I couldn’t do it,
but I want young people to become people who can be thankful.

Arigato gozaimashita.

  2. What a stunning bike, the suicide shifter, small form handle bars and hole rusticism of the build is mind-blowing. Hope he has some safe rides forever more.

  3. Very pure feelings can easily be lost in the modern world of competition.

In the end, the competition is only with ourselves.

I am 55, i ride a 44 year old Shovel Head Electra Glide (1980) i also love my Honda Cub 90.

My life is complete, because my bikes are me and i am them. Together we are one.

    That 'one' is 'I'.

'I' spread the vibration of true happiness, but only to those truely 'open' to this vibration.

  4. Ive done hair in nyc for 30 something years n ride my Harley n love it , interesting conversation ñ interesting man , pretty cool,we need more people chilled out n cool like that in our world but not the phoñies n wanna be, 👍✌️🍷

  5. Лайк сразу поставил !!!!! 😂 ЗА СТИЛЬ !!!! Редкий случай когда мотоцикл и человек одно целое !!!! Красиво !!!

  6. This is more like a Harley I remember as a kid. It symbolized a person as a nonconformist/outcast and that was OK. Suicide clutch is very nostalgic hopefully it doesn't have the mandatory puddle of oil under the crankcase.

  7. 鈴木さんとストリートスナップでバズったイケオジのなおやさんとのコラボとか見れたら最高です。実現してほしい😢
