【秋の北海道ひとり旅】支笏湖~大迫力のクマ牧場~登別地獄谷

It’s a beautiful rainbow. Hello from Tomakomai City, Hokkaido. Lake Shikotsu is in this direction. The weather was nice so I went to Lake Shikotsu. Park your car at the Lake Shikotsu paid parking lot (I think it costs 500 yen a day) and take a walk around Lake Shikotsu.

Here is the location of Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido. Lake Shikotsu also has hot springs, as well as several inns and hotels. Follow the students down to the shores of Lake Shikotsu. Let’s take a group photo here. Lake Shikotsu is the representative lake of Hokkaido.

The shore of Lake Shikotsu is said to be a freshwater lake with a circumference of 40 km. It is said that you can ride an underwater pleasure boat and a high-speed motor boat here. They also rent pedal boats.

The mountain you can see over there is “Fupushidake”, which is 1,102.5 meters above sea level. The mountain you can see over there is Mt. Eniwa, which is 1,320m above sea level. Let’s go to the observation deck by crossing the red bridge called “Mountain Line Tetsubashi”. The water is beautiful.

After going up the stairs and walking a little, you will see the observation deck. Although the view is slightly obstructed by trees, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Shikotsu and the surrounding mountains. After walking around Lake Shikotsu, we returned to Tomakomai City and went to eat seafood bowl at this market.

This is the one I chose among the various shops. This is Minato Shokudo. It was full and I waited for about 30 minutes. I was confused about Tomakomai’s famous surf clam curry, but the seafood bowl was the correct choice. The color of the seafood bowl is also vivid.

There are also a wide variety of topics. After the meal, I also ate Shiroi Koibito ice cream. It’s all about fat people. On another day, I went to Noboribetsu, which is famous for its hot springs.

This is a specimen of a bear, but I would like to see the real thing with my own eyes. There is a long distance from Noboribetsu Station to Noboribetsu Onsen, so I took a bus. The bus ride from Noboribetsu Station to Noboribetsu Onsen took about 27 minutes one way and cost 350 yen.

Click here for the location of Noboribetsu Onsen. Hot spring water is poured over this “Yukake Kizou” to pray for good health. The main reason I visited Noboribetsu Onsen was to visit Noboribetsu Bear Farm. Noboribetsu has a variety of tourist attractions, but you can’t visit them all in one day.

Hokkaido’s famous Seicomart is also designed as a tourist spot, painted brown to match the surrounding scenery. Noboribetsu Onsen has many unique stone statues related to hell and demons. The sign for the bear farm came into view. Head to the ropeway platform.

This is also a bit difficult if you walk because there are stairs and uphill slopes. Along the way, there are cute signboards like this one, which gives me a sense of relief. After walking for about 5 minutes, we arrived at Ropeway Sanroku Station. First of all, humans cannot compete with it.

Is it like a purikura exclusive to the bear farm? The interior of this ropeway station is also decorated for Halloween. I would like to see the cubs as well. The ropeway is a circular gondola lift, so it was a smooth ride.

It can carry up to 6 people, and it takes about 7 minutes to climb the mountain from the foot station to the summit, with a total length of 1,260m and a height difference of 300m. The entrance fee to the bear farm is 3,000 yen (1,500 yen for children).

The round trip fare for the ropeway is included in the entrance fee to the bear farm. I mistook it for a Halloween-themed gondola. You can look down on Noboribetsu Onsen town below. We arrived at the ropeway summit station.

As soon as I got off, I noticed that many galleries were looking at something, so I went to see them. Some kind of moving black object. . . Oh, right away, there was a bear cub. I’m catching fish with all my heart. It’s cute how it moves around.

The cubs are usually exhibited from the end of April to the end of November. Apparently, we were able to observe an event called “Baby Bear Hunting Time.” I’ve been particularly interested in “Human Cage” for a while. Before that, there was a “duck race” on the way, so I decided to check it out.

The way she walks is cute and very soothing. You can participate in the duck race for 200 yen each, and if you can guess which duck will finish first, you’ll receive original goods. The duck with a white ribbon tied around its neck appears to be wearing the first costume.

Bear snacks were sold in a vending machine, so I decided to buy them. There were 200 yen and 500 yen snacks on sale, and I bought the 200 yen snack. According to the information I checked in advance, it seems that the structure is like a human being in a cage.

Immediately, a ridiculously large bear came looking for a snack. Now, I would like to give the bear a snack. It has a mechanism where you put snacks in here and push them out. You can’t just hand it over directly. It’s surprisingly cute when you see it up close.

If you get a little irritated, will she make a terrible snort? I’ll do it. Is it like a reminder or a snort to bring the snack closer to the bear? If you provoke him, he will keep doing snort attacks. Is it like saying, “Hurry up!”?

I was able to witness an impressive sight through the glass. It seems like this child still doesn’t have enough snacks. This time, let’s look at the bear from a different angle. There is a male Ezo brown bear at this “First Ranch”. Males are less active than females and have a more laid-back appearance.

However, when it comes to receiving treats, each of them will make a unique pose to show off. Apparently, that is the “second ranch”. The bear farm is located at a high altitude, so you can see the Pacific Ocean below. The bears here also engage in “boss battles” during the mating season.

This is the “Second Farm” where there is a female Ezo brown bear. Female Ezo brown bears are said to be much more active than males. They are more charming than males, climbing high places, going into water, and sleeping. There are also squirrels and chipmunks at the bear farm, so I’ll take a look.

It moved quickly and was small, so I couldn’t observe it closely, but I could definitely see it. There are other spots at the bear farm, such as “Yukara no Sato”, but due to lack of time, I was not able to visit them.

There is a lake near Noboribetsu Onsen called Kuttara Lake, so let’s take a look at it from the observation deck. Kuttara Lake is a caldera lake located about 2 km east of Noboribetsu Onsen. It has a beautiful round shape.

When you go down the stairs from the Kuttara Lake observation deck, you will find many stuffed bears. There were also skeletal specimens like this one. There is also trick art. In the winter, they burrow into a hole in the ground and hibernate.

At the “Kumayama Stage”, it seems that you can give snacks to the bears that are directly below you, so let’s give it a try. The cubs look a little tired.

It was a bear farm that I had been interested in for a while, so I’m glad I was able to visit it. I have the impression that the entrance fee is a little high. Return to Noboribetsu Onsen Town and then head to Noboribetsu Jigokudani.

This is a spot called “Enmado”. It is said to be a mechanical doll that moves every two hours. I started to see something that looked like a demon’s metal rod. This spot is called Sengen Park. Apparently this is a geyser. Apparently it erupts violently every 3 hours, but nothing happened this time.

This is Yuzawa Shrine, located near Sengen Park. It’s about a 5 minute walk to Jigokudani, so I headed there on foot. Following the hot spring town, there are many demons on the way to Jigokudani.

In addition to staying overnight at the hotels and inns in Noboribetsu Onsen, you can also take day trips to the hot springs. As we approached Jigokudani, we could smell the sulfur. Noboribetsu Jigokudani also has an information center called the Park Service Center, which also sells souvenirs.

Noboribetsu Jigokudani is a rugged valley with exposed rock, worthy of being called a hell, and filled with the smell of sulfur. It’s a spectacular view. It looks like you can go downstairs, so I’ll go there. Noboribetsu Jigokudani has a promenade like this one, so it’s easy to walk.

When I went down there was a small shrine with the name Yakushi Nyorai written on it. I was able to see Jigokudani up close. Let’s go along the Sanzu River and go all the way to the back. It looks like a robber will appear.

It’s a spot called “Tessenike”. It is a geyser that gushes out many different types of hot springs. It seems that if the timing is right, it will spring up, but nothing happened. This is the Sanzu River.

The temperature of the hot springs is said to be as high as 80℃. If you touch it, you’ll probably get burned. Sulfur hot springs were bubbling everywhere and you could see the steam spewing out. I took this photo of Noboribetsu Jigokudani from a slightly higher place.

I went to a spot called Oyunuma near Jigokudani. There were many people at the observation deck overlooking Oyunuma. Oyunuma seen from the observation deck. The view is nice, but I was surprisingly tired coming this far. When I see this sight, I have a strange feeling that I want to see it up close.

So I decided to go down and take a closer look. It is a scenic spot that attracts visitors with its unique colored water surface and the smell of sulfur. There was a pure white pond called Oku-no-yu near Oyunuma.

You’ll want to soak in the cloudy white water, which is reminiscent of Nyuto Onsen in Akita Prefecture. The signboard says that the temperature will be 130 degrees Celsius at the deepest point and 50 degrees Celsius at the surface. That’s right, steam is rising. Apparently there is also a footbath near Oyunuma.

The magnificent and desolate scenery will captivate your eyes. I left Noboribetsu Station, which was chaotic with foreign tourists, and headed back to Tomakomai. I returned to Tomakomai and had seafood bowl again. This seafood bowl from Uokin Shokudo is amazing. Not only the taste, but the overflowing toppings are astounding.

I think we waited for over 30 minutes as well. However, it is a seafood bowl that is worth lining up for. Another day, I didn’t go far, but instead wandered around Tomakomai city where I was staying. Kirakira Park is near Uokin Shokudo, and a large cargo ship is moored at the nearby pier.

It was windy, but since it’s a sea fishing park, there were some people fishing there, probably from the neighborhood. It is common to see herds of deer in Hokkaido. There is no sign of running away. I also ate Genghis Khan. I also had Hokki curry. This is the volume.

A crow pecking at a plastic bag on the back of a motorcycle with its beak. The driver must have been surprised when he returned. This is Lake Shikotsu from a place called Polopinai that I passed by on another day. Did the people next to you do some diving?

It seems that you can also fish at Lake Shikotsu. It seems that you can catch dace, trout, etc. thank you very much.
