浜辺が美しいと噂の新島に行ってきた。モヤイもあるよ[自転車と船の旅]

March, certain day at 9:00 p.m. I am here at the Takeshiba Wharf in Tokyo. This is the passenger terminal of Tokai Kisen, the ferry for the Izu Islands. Why did I come here this time? Campsite on Oshima Island, which I visited twice last year.

The island at the end of the sea that can be seen from there Toshima and Niijima I’ve always been curious about this island and decided to go there for a vacation. I wanted to go to Toshima because I wanted to go around in order from the north.

Since reservations for private accommodations are not available and camping is prohibited by island ordinance This time I decided to go to Niijima, just beyond. Well, it’s going to be a crazy happening. Bicycle and boat trip Izu Islands Niijima This is the Tachibana Maru heading for Miyakejima.

The night view of Tokyo and the Tachibana Maru will see us off. Niijima is located approximately 160 km south of central Tokyo. It is a small island of 27.54 square kilometers with a population of about 2,300.

The island is made up of white meteoric rocks, which is why the color of the sea is so beautiful. It was an off-season weekday, so I was able to get a round-trip ticket for 10,000 yen! 6:00a.m. Oshima 7:40a.m. Toshima It’s a 10-hour boat trip via Oshima and Toshijima.

Oh, by the way, when I got on board for the first time in six months, this is what I found Starlink, man! Thank you Elon Musk. Now you’ll have a constant connection to the Internet while on board. Arrive at Niijima at 8:30 the next day

I have a lot to do at camp this time. I’m going to enjoy the extraordinary on a remote island. This is Habushiura Campsite where we will be staying this time. It is well maintained, no reservation is required, and best of all, it is free!

I guess since it’s a remote island and so large, reservations aren’t necessary. There were only three groups that day, including myself. we should put down our camping gear and cruise around the island. First, we went to the nearby Habushiura Beach. Well, how is the beach of Niijima, which is rumored to be beautiful?

Even from a distance, you can see how beautiful the ocean is. wow! I’m not cowering and retreating, I’m taking an Insta pic. The sand is white and the sea is brightly colored. This is a spectacular view, and it’s also nice that there are no people here.

I heard there is a place called Secret a little further down the road. I heard that this is a spectacular viewpoint that is not mentioned in tourist guides. This seems to be its entrance. They told me not to walk right under the cliff because of the danger of falling rocks.

Wow, the color of the sea is really beautiful. The color looks like paint. I wonder if this island is formed differently from the others because it’s not pitch black volcanic rock. I came to the west side of the island, to the center of town. Interesting things abound on this side of the street.

These stones scattered along the road In fact, these are all stone statues called moyai. It’s not moai, it’s moyai. Niijima is said to produce a rare stone called antiphlogopite. The stone is suitable for carving, so moyai were made to resemble moai. Scattered along this road are all moyai.

The Moyai statue in Shibuya was also sent from Niijima. I tried to go to the north side of the island after this. The only tunnel leading north is closed to pedestrians and cyclists! The path that was passable for pedestrians had collapsed and was abandoned.

Well, it’s time to go back and enjoy the camp. It was so calm during the day, but the wind started to pick up in the evening. Check the weather report. what the hell! Wind speed 15 mph! This wasn’t the forecast until yesterday!

I couldn’t get a private accommodation from now on, but I couldn’t go back to the island because it was too remote. I have no choice but to go through with it. I should only secure supplies. 15 mph winds are like typhoons, why are there so many of them this year?

We’ll get some water and food and hurry back. The wind is getting stronger and stronger. And strong winds over 10 m forecast overnight. I’m worried about the tents being blown away. Let’s hurry. Back at the campsite, two other groups were also struggling with the wind! Whoa, barely safe.

Good thing we set up in the shade of a tree. Panicking. Camping is fun… Somehow we survived. But I hardly slept at all. Today’s Solitary Meal Well, I’m on my way home. For better or worse, I enjoyed two days of extraordinary experiences!

I enjoyed Niijima. I’d like to come back next time in summer. It must be great to do marine sports in that sea in summer! You can see Shikinejima at the end of the sea. I’m curious… Thank you for watching. Please subscribe to our channel and give us a high rating.
