Motorcycle Adventure Through Idaho | World Travelers Reunion – EP. 275
Morning! How’s my hair? I’m still alive. Bears didn’t eat me. There was no one here. I didn’t hang the food, so luckily Chillie was safe as well. That was a little bit irresponsible. But I’m not sure. Are there bears here? Probably. If I was a bear, I would like to live here.
Anyway, it’s all good. We’re still alive. So, I will continue through these gravel roads. I mean, there’s so many options, but yeah. We’re just gonna wing it. Probably, I’ve got around 40 miles, which is what? Like, 60 k’s? To pavement. So it should be a good day.
And at the end of the day, you’ll see what happen. [Intro Music] And now, the scenery changed! Such an open space! Look at that. It’s so cool. Just going through these hills. Wow. Just beautiful. Aww, and the sun came out. Isn’t that lovely? Okay! This is interesting. I’m just gonna stay here. Let’s see. Like real cowboys! Oh my God! This is so cool! Don’t get distracted! Keep going! Hey! Hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Oh no, I’m so sorry! Uh-oh! Oh no! You lost one! Two? Keep coming! Is she gonna come back? Oh, okay. Sorry.
Because I thought maybe they’d be scared of the engine. We’ll get ’em! Hello! Who are you? Get your cow! She went downstairs. Get your cow. Hi! You guys are like, real cowboys and cowgirls. Okay. Hello! So you do it everyday? Oh, wow. Yup. Yeah? Where are you headed?
So did you rent the bike? Pardon? I’m traveling around the world. Nice! Oh yeah? That’s nice. Did you bring the bike over on the boat? Yeah, from Africa. From Africa? [Kinga] Six and a half years on the road. Oh, jeez! Yeah. It’s been a while. You guys are so cool! Yeah.
So you have a farm not so far from here? Down in Challis. That’s a pretty narrow road for the cows, hey? When you have cars coming. Well, we’re just moving – They’re – So in America, you got four service allotments.
So there’s, what? Three permittees on this deal. He’s with the permittees. We’re the riders for it. And so we just gotta get ’em – Well, we’ll take them down ways so that they don’t go back up on the mountain. – We’ll take them down here to –
And then put ’em back up on the mountain. And then they’ll stay there ’til about the first of October, and then we’ll bring them back. I see. Are they yours? Or you’re just working – Some of ’em are his. Yup. So you’re cowgirls! That’s your full-time job. Yeah. -Yup!
Wow! Nice to meet you! – And then there’s – There’s gonna be a big tractor trailer coming. Okay. Thank you! It was so nice to meet you guys! Have a good day! – You, too! Have a good day! Did you find your cow? She’s fine! She’ll know where she’s going? We’ll get her.
What an experience! Real cowboys and cowgirls. In America! Wow. Excellent traction. This mud is very sticky. The tires are literally covered in mud, so I’ll go slowly. Let’s keep it upright, Chillie. Yeah. This gravel is a bit sandy. It’s just wet sand. That’s what it is. Yeah, much better here. Here we go. Can go again. Chillie, end of break. Back to the mud. It’s getting drier, which is a good thing. The sun is out. But we’ll still go slowly. That’s because you’re so heavy. To keep you straight. Challenge, but that’s okay. We’ll make it. Slowly. Oh yeah, it’s getting better. It’s getting drier. Much better now. And what do we have here? It’s like a gorge. Woohoo! Let’s see, Chillie. This road is so scenic. I just don’t – I just want to say: I’ve discovered it. No one told me about it. By chance. Yes. This is the way I roll. That rock formation is just… Yeah. So beautiful.
What a ride. Chillie, we have to stop for pictures. Totally. I have to take a picture of you here. Totally. Am I in the frame? How’s my hair? Testing, testing. There we go. This road is just getting better and better! I’m going through this gorge. I can’t remember its name. But,
I feel like I’ve discovered it because no one told me about it. Just wow. Let’s keep moving! Not long to go to pavement, I think. And we’re back to pavement! Look at this scenery. It’s such an open space. It’s all farmlands. Very remote. And beautiful. Very dry. Clearly they didn’t have much rain, either. ‘Grand View Canyon.’ This is gonna be nice. It’s our lucky day! We’re doing gravel again! What is this? Challis? ‘Challis National Forest’. Yup! That will do! Let’s go, Chillie. Okay. And I have made it to Hailey. Hailey? Hi-ley? I don’t know how they pronounce it. But, that town. There you go. It’s a very nice town. And here, I’ll be hosted by my friends. I’m sure a lot of you know them. So you’ll see who’s that in a second. Kinga? Hey, Natalia!
[in Polish] I think I’m outside. [in Polish] Yes, you’re here. [in Polish] On the right where these two cars are? [in Polish] Yes. Oh my God! Oh my God! Hi! [in Polish] Hi! Hey! [in Polish] Long time no see! [in Polish] And for sure, it’s our first time on this continent.
[in Polish] Zuzu loves motorcycles. Hi! How are you? I’ve seen you in pictures! You’re the famous doggie! [Natalia] Yeah. Let’s do it officially. Welcome to Tim’s and Natalia’s place. Yay! Hi! It’s been a while. It’s been a while. Sorry, I’m doing this because, like – I’m gonna go in between you guys.
That – That will do. Yes. [Natalia] Yeah, it’s better. Okay. Just for an intro. Thank you so much for having me! Oh, we’re so excited. We’ve been looking forward to it. [Natalia] Yeah, we’re very, very excited. Right. It’s been – So we’ve calculated it. Last time I saw Tim –
Actually, the only time I saw you, Tim, was four years ago in Africa. And with Natalia, I think three years in Poland, right? Three years ago in Poland. [Natalia] Right, yeah. So much has happened since. Right. Guys, I have to do a little interview with you and
Tell the world what happened to you in that time, because so much has happened. So. Tim Burke and I, we go way back. We started our Around-the-World trip pretty much at the same time. In 2017, you started traveling the world, right?
I think you were a little before me. I was April 2017. You were… March? April. You were April? So it was the same exact time. [Kinga] Yes! Exactly the same time. And you’re still a homeless bum. [Kinga] I know. I’m still homeless and unemployed.
And then after three and a half years of being on the road, you were doing completely different continents. We caught up in Tanzania and we rode for five days. And we had these – We were just – All the memories of that banana beer. I bought us, um…
What do you call it? Like a… Local… Delicacy? Which is banana beer. Banana wine. It’s 10%. I’ll be fine. I don’t have high standards for beer, but this is uh… Yeah, it’s like a fermented juice, isn’t it? Yeah, that one takes some effort to put down. I’m glad I only bought two. Yeah.
It’s really bitter. It’s got no taste of banana whatsoever. And you guys, Natalia – Actually, all three of us, at the same time, we were in Africa. Yeah. You were coming down. You were behind me. Tim was going up.
So you met me in Tanzania. You guys caught up in Egypt and you rode together in Egypt, right? Right, yeah. And that’s how their love started. True story. And since then… Can I say it? Can I say it? You got married. Yeah. You got a dog. And you settled down here in Idaho.
It’s like real life. It’s like being an adult or something. That’s right. You’re two are adults now. So how’s your life now after all of this traveling? I mean, you all – You’re both overlanders, you know. You’ve covered continents and you, you know. You had the travel bug for so long.
How is it now? Coming down off the high of travel is really, really hard. I don’t know how to describe it other than like, coming down off the high. Like coming out of crazy drugs. [Kinga] Yeah, but it was Covid as well, so it was double crazy, right? And it was Covid. Yeah.
It took a while to get used to. Covid was actually a smooth letdown, rather than like, jumping into work. But we still think about travel. We still look at the maps. There’s a map in the house. There’s a wall in the house full of maps.
But the best things I think, you’d say, you know. We’ve got a hot tub over there, and there’s um… [Kinga] You do? There’s a closet with clothes versus like, a duffel bag. [Kinga] Yes. And there’s a toilet that’s clean. And like, showers that work all the time.
And there’s not somebody snoozing next to me that I don’t know, all the time in a hostel room. So there’s benefits to returning to real life, but yeah, no. I think that we miss the road. What’s it like for you? Yeah, life is definitely different, especially for me
Since I am a foreigner in a different country. I love this place. We moved here. It was the middle of the winter. And – [Kinga] Oh dear. No bikes. Seriously. But, we immediately fell in love with this place. There are mountains, lakes, rivers. It’s all the outdoors that there is to offer.
And yeah. We are never bored. We always have things to do, even if it’s not the bikes. Yeah. What is that, Tim? [Kinga] It’s okay. And um… Yeah. We made friends here.
I have a few Polish friends that I can speak with them in my native language, so I feel like – [Tim] A few. There’s like, ten of them. Really? Here in Idaho? In rural –
In this little valley, within like, an area that we can throw a stone, she’s got like, ten Polish friends and they all hang out here. I’ll find them around this [Natalia] Six or seven. table. And so we call this place the Polish embassy. Polish embassy, yeah. I’m back on the frame.
I just wanted to ask you: how did you guys get married? Right there in the – Through those screen doors. On the Zoom call! [Tim] In the kitchen. It was Zoom. It was the middle of a pandemic. We couldn’t find anyone, you know, to make it happen, and we found a…
A temple, or a church, or some sort of organization. Or was it a City Hall? It might have been a City Hall. I don’t know what the story was. [Natalia] Yeah, the City Hall. Yeah. [Kinga] The cheapest – The cheapest wedding in history. [Natalia] Yeah.
On the Zoom call. In a Zoom call [Kinga] How many guests? on a kitchen counter with one guest, actually, that was in our house with everything. Tim’s best friend. And like, 15 people on the Zoom call. So. Excellent! I thought it’s a good story. It’s the Zuzu bear. She loves famous bikes.
Yes, clearly! [Natalia] Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay. Aww! Hey, Zuzu! Aren’t you a good girl? [Natalia] When Kinga came, Zuzu just jumped out. Aren’t you a good girl? Give me a kiss. [Natalia] And then just started greeting her. She didn’t even know her. She just think, person on a bike. Okay.
She’s so good! Zuzu’s driving? We’re so excited to have Kinga here. Hello! Thank you for having me! [Tim] It’s so cool to have this bike in our driveway. That was such a good catch up. I only could stay with Natalia and Tim for one night.
I know. Of course, because I’m rushing. So little time, so much to see. But yeah, it was so good to see them after so many years. So, what’s the plan now? Well, I’m heading towards Yellowstone National Park. I don’t think I’ll make it today.
I’ll camp somewhere on the way and then hopefully, I’ll – Yeah. Definitely, I’ll get to the park tomorrow. Okay. I think… Let’s see the river first. Oh, okay. There’s a river there. There’s tables there. Let’s see where the – Where’s the best beach access. And a little bit of shade, Chillie. It’s just way too hot at the moment. Okay. There’s a river here. Very nice.
Next door, we have some shade, Chillie. That’s more like it. And the toilet is close by. Excellent. Couldn’t be better. Everything is set. Tent is done. Dinner is done. Chillie is parked. And we have some shade in this hot weather. It’s like 30 degrees today. Yes. Dinner time.
And dinner for tonight is… All that stuff. Which is like, sort of like a curry and vegetables. Will be good. It’s very nice. [Outro Music] Thank you so much for having me. Of course. Yeah. And this is where Tim works!
He’s at work now. So let’s wave to Tim. Maybe he sees us. Hi, Tim! Wherever you are. Have a good day at work! [Outro Music]
In this episode, I continue exploring Idaho’s hidden roads and after all these years, I’m reunited with world travelers Tim and Natalia.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don’t know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I’m raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family lead as normal a life as possible so please donate generously: https://gogetfunding.com/arewethereyet/
None of that would be possible without my official sponsors:

Their dog is adorable!
I have often thought about you and your journey. Being all by yourself, mile by mile, day by day, month on month on your long adventure. For me, I'd be so incredibly lonely by myself. Each day not having time to look for someone to try and find a relationship with someone special to spend your time and life with. I'd find it hard to deal with. Obviously you have friends along the way, but it's not the same. I hope that some day you'll find someone new and exciting and be able to do it all over again with them ❤
Looks Like Fun and your Friends Story was Awesome 🤘🏼
🇸🇬💪👍👍👍👍☕️🌯🏍️
You have gorgeous hair! Thanks for showing us Idaho! I've been there myself several times and loved it!
