Vietnam 3 Cities 5 Days 7 Nights Whirlwind Trip Including Flight, Hotel, Food, etc. Total Travel Expenses: Approximately 100,000 JPY for 7 Days So many attractions to explore! Exploring 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites Adachi, a 30s office worker Vietnam Round-trip Travel #1 Ho Chi Minh City 1

This time, it’s my first visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. If you have any recommended places, please let me know in the comments 🙂 Since today is a weekday, after work, I’ll take a shower and head to Haneda close to the last train.

The flight is at 2 AM, so arriving at the airport by 12 AM seems good. Haneda’s late-night flights seem few, and the airport shouldn’t be too crowded. Arrived at the airport! Going to the airport after work is probably my favorite time to go. 😄

Met up with B. And surprisingly, there are a lot of people at the counter… Vietnam is so popular. The drawback of late-night flights is that most stores are closed… However, to my surprise, eateries were open. Let’s cheers to the first drink of the trip!

This time, I’ll be flying with VietJet, Vietnam’s LCC. Since it’s my first time in Vietnam, it’s also my first time on VietJet. The flight is 6 and a half hours. Come to think of it, it’s my first time on such a long LCC flight. I wonder if I can sleep… a bit worried.

But I ended up sleeping like a log. 😂 Thanks to the sleep goods I’ve been collecting. (I’ll list my favorite flight goods in the description!) Good morning, Ho Chi Minh. Already feeling the tropical vibes. 🌴 Condensation! Haven’t even left the airport yet, but you can already feel the humidity.

The airport is quite ordinary. Right before immigration, there’s a stand for SIM cards! I was worried it might not be open since it’s early morning, but I’m glad I could get one. I prefer plans with a local phone number, just in case. The guy at the counter set it up splendidly.

Since I registered with Grab in Japan, I might not need cash right away, but just in case, I withdrew some cash from the airport ATM. Grab is a ride-hailing app, the Uber of East Asia. We made it! Vietnam!!!

The waiting area for arrivals is outside, which is refreshing. It’s warm all year round, so it’s probably fine outside. Arranging a car with Grab and heading to today’s accommodation.

Grab is an app where you select your destination, arrange a ride, and pay through the app. No need for price negotiation or explaining the location—it’s super convenient. The famous flood of bikes in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City. The raw energy was even more impressive, but it’s hard to convey in the video.

Since it’s before check-in time, I’ll just leave my luggage and head to breakfast. A-san coming from Korea will arrive in the early afternoon, so we’ll explore together in the morning. Since I’ve always loved pho, I head to a pho restaurant near the accommodation.

The roads here are wide with some traffic lights, but most of them are signal-free. The road I thought was a sidewalk turned out to be for bikes—surprising! 😄 I wonder if they tried to separate cars and bikes, but in the end, both seem to be using the bike lane.

Is this a kindergarten? It’s quite a large building for just a kindergarten… (about 6 floors) I thought there were many children in Vietnam, considering the high birth rate, but recently, it has decreased and fallen below 2.0 in recent years.

The population is 97 million, and it’s said to exceed 100 million in 23 years. I noticed several Japanese restaurants on the way. Ho Chi Minh City seems to have many Japanese companies. We arrived! The restaurant is surprisingly stylish. What is this tree? It’s super cute… it stands out against the bright red gate…

There were no customers, and I was worried if it was closed, but they let me in. (It seems they open from 7:30 AM) The building is a mix of Southeast Asian vibes and European-style interior, lovely. Seems kinda like a private space. 😄 (Even though there were about 10 staff members)

It gets crowded with tourists at night. Feeling luxurious with a private space. The interior is lovely and clean. It’s considered upscale in Vietnam. Considering Vietnam’s cost of living is said to be one-third of Japan’s, even if it’s upscale locally, it’s considerably cheaper than dining out in Japan.

The menu had a wide variety. You can choose this much for pho alone. In addition to Vietnamese cuisine, there were many Southeast Asian dishes. Although it’s still morning, let’s have some beer! The essence of travel! Here it is! I went with the classic beef pho.

As someone who loves distinctive leaves and spices like cilantro, I’m super happy with this set that comes with pho. This shop is a chain and seems to have branches in Cambodia and Germany. I noticed from the menu that beer was unusually cheap, and other alcoholic drinks were reasonably priced.

Can’t remember exactly, but beer was around 200 JPY, and other alcohols were around 500 JPY? Something like that. I don’t drink much beer in Japan because it makes you gain weight, but it looks like this trip is turning into a beer journey.

On a side note, this pink flower tree turned out to be artificial. Well, that makes sense. 😄 Since there’s still time until I meet A-san, I decided to go to a spa. Trying to guess what type of handsome Vietnamese guy is featured on the sign. 😄

I thought it was a big department store, but there was Takashimaya. Takashimaya used to be worldwide, including Europe, but now there are only four stores in Southeast Asia. It looks like a local convenience store building, but when you see the coconuts stacked at the entrance, you realize you’re in Vietnam. 😄

Coconuts… that’s right, huh? 😄 Just as it’s known as the city of bikes. And suddenly, there’s a Japanese flag in the middle of the city. I wonder what that is. Found the spa I was looking for! With over 1500 Google reviews, it has an impressive 4.9 rating.

I called, struggling with broken Vietnamese, to confirm if they could accommodate two people. (There might be situations like this, so I recommend a SIM with a phone number) The interior is super stylish! Someone at the reception who speaks English will help you with the menu.

I chose the 70-minute full-body course for 3,100 yen. I went to several spas in Vietnam later, but this one was the best!

The facilities were the cleanest, it smelled good, and the skills of the staff who attended to me were fantastic. Personally, I felt it was of the same quality as in Japan, where it would cost more than twice the price.

At the end of the spa, I received a report that A-san had left the airport, so we’ll meet at the accommodation. The road I’m walking on has pedestrian signals, but except for such major roads, there are generally no signals, so it’s quite scary to cross the street at first.

But after walking for about 30 minutes, you get used to it. 😄 Safely reunited with A-san! There’s a famous and good exchange rate place, so let’s head there~ In Vietnam, many places that sell gold also exchange money, and their rates are said to be very good.

The exchange rate is so good that, in some cases, you might end up making a profit. 😄 After successfully exchanging money, let’s have lunch! A famous pizza place in Vietnam that’s talked about among Koreans. I didn’t know it at this time, but the owner is Japanese.

Moreover, the first store in Japan opened at Azabudai Hills at the end of 23! It feels like a fashionable restaurant on the West Coast of the United States. (I don’t know much about stylish restaurants and lack vocabulary, so I can’t express it well. 😄)

Even so, it doesn’t seem like drinks other than beer are especially cheap… (I think this is considered an upscale place in Vietnam as well.) Anyway, let’s toast with beer and… All the Italian dishes, which seem expensive in Japan, are all priced at half or less, so I’m tempted by everything. 😄

Mango and prosciutto. The intensity of this mango. Assorted appetizers. I forgot if we ordered small or large, but I think it was around 700 yen for small and 1,500 yen for large. (Probably small) Fruit salad. Cheap fruits are a privilege in tropical countries.

Here comes the main dish. It’s a combination of two of the shop’s signature pizzas. This pizza was also served at Azabudai Hills! All the dishes were of very high quality, and you can understand why they are popular in Japan. I had about three drinks, costing about 2,500 yen per person.

A lunch for 2,500 yen is luxurious even in Japan, but the quality was a bit impressive. It’s about time to check in, so I’ll go back to the room for a break.

I was pressured by a coconut seller on the way and bought a coconut. (I bought it for 200 yen, even though the usual price is around 100 yen) There’s a large park near the tower mansion of the inn, but I couldn’t get through even though it seemed possible

I wandered around inside and outside the park… I’ve arrived—today’s room. Since we are a group of three men and women, we often choose to either get two rooms during trips or a condominium with two completely separate rooms, including the water area.

This time, we chose the latter, a room with two bathrooms and bedrooms each. Whether it’s for guests or not, in Southeast Asia, I often find these types of condominiums on Airbnb, which is very helpful.

It’s an amazing view~ The room was also clean, and considering it’s 5,500 yen per person per night, I’m satisfied. A-san and I took the room and bathroom in the back, and the room and bathroom in the front were for C-san.

That’s it for this time! Next time, we’ll explore Ho Chi Minh City! See you again~ Next time, sightseeing in Ho Chi Minh. There are quite a few tourist attractions. Even a post office designed by Eiffel.
