世界最速ダンスの部族の村

This video is about 16 days of traveling in Ivory Coast. Once again, I had trouble with my bicycle one after another, so I wasn’t able to travel as much as I had hoped. Still, I sought them out to do what I had always wanted to do: watch the world’s fastest step dance.

And miraculously, my wish came true. After stopping at the world heritage town of Grand-Bassam, we will head to the Ghanaian border. There is a world of charm that can only be discovered on a bicycle trip. So let’s go! I entered Ivory Coast without any problems. But soon, the chain broke. And…

A big hole! It’s only been my first day wearing these pants, but they are a big hole. August 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. The current location is on the border of West Africa, just across from Liberia and Ivory Coast.

My second trip to Ivory Coast. I’m about to go on a bicycle trip to meet a certain ethnic group. The tops are fine. I don’t have a mirror so I can’t tell, but it probably looks good. This is a bicycle shop in Danane.

In order to get to our destination, we first need to fix our bikes. Are the chains and sprockets that I couldn’t find in Liberia here? Only 6. There is no 7. chain? How much is it? this? – Yes. Brand new. 1000CFA. None. None.

In the end, there were no new chains in this town either. No, I found one, but they didn’t sell long chains. This type of thing. A short chain was found. There was no long chain that would fit this. And sprockets were only sold with 6 speeds. Next town!

This is the heart of Man. In order to go to the bicycle shop in this town, we first enter the market. Traditional costume of this region? The first time I saw. What is this called? Wear it with a hat. Traditional? It’s the traditional costume of this area. interesting. thank you.

Do you have a chain? How much is it? Bicycle chain? – Yes. no. I want at least a chain instead of sprockets. Lucky to find it. I’ll also look for it at a bicycle shop in a rural town.

The next day. The national highway is now unpaved, and it looks like there will be no bicycle shops for a while. I pedal carefully to avoid breaking the chain. There was a new chain. This length also fits my bike. It is 1500 CFA (about 2.5 USD). I don’t expect quality.

But by keeping it as a spare, I can pedal with more force with my current chain. Fresh start. Can you hear this sound? This is the problem I’m having now. The front tire bearing cup is defective. 5000km from Europe. Many parts of the bicycle are worn out. 5km to Séguéla. Repair at Séguéla.

We finally arrived at Séguéla. Everything was repaired. I’m really tired. Repair of front tire hub shaft. And here I finally got my hands on a 7-speed sprocket. I replaced that too. And while I was adjusting the small details, it was already sunset. Lunch is now… no, it’s already time for dinner. Is this food?

How much is this? -2000CFA. This is 1000 CFA. It’s some kind of meat. delicious! This is 1000 CFA (1.65 USD). Is the pedal okay? The day after I repaired my bicycle. I thought I could reach my destination quickly. But something strange happened elsewhere. This is no good. I see. There’s a bicycle shop!

Let’s ask. Is it possible? here? The store said, “Let’s take it apart and maybe we can fix it.” It’s only been one year since this part called the bottom bracket was made new in the UK. So this is abnormal. It breaks down too quickly. Bicycle repair is not fixed.

This requires a bottom bracket replacement repair. But for that I need special tools. And there are no new BBs in this village. So I decided to clean the inside and reassemble it. As an emergency measure, I am now able to ride. And it’s already sunset.

I have only been able to travel 20km today. This is the journey. I’m going camping again today. Self-cooked using charcoal. I haven’t cooked at all since my gasoline stove was stolen. But this way it’s possible. Make porridge with rice and stock. Hello, this is ASAHI.

Now I’m in the middle of Ivory Coast. Please see the map. West Africa… in the middle of Ivory Coast. This is my second trip to Ivory Coast after returning from Liberia. The main purpose of this trip was to meet the Guro tribe and watch the Zaouli dance.

I messaged the people I met on my first trip to Ivory Coast and asked them where I could meet the Guro tribe. I was told about three villages, and today I will go to one of them, a village called Zuénoula. But I don’t know if I’ll actually be able to see it.

I’m excited to go there, ask questions, and see what happens . Let’s go! I had no idea the road was paved. And it’s an area where tourists and white people don’t come. That’s why everyone looks so surprised. It took much longer than expected. Finally I arrived at the first Guro village, Zuénoula.

Ask locals where you can go to see Zaouli dance. This is Zuénoula. I want to see Zaouli. Manfla. Manfla? Manfla, okay. This is the entrance to Zuénoula and a police checkpoint. When I asked the police, they told me about a town called Manfla.

Then, I decided to ask some other questions, so I asked around town. Again, the answer is Manfla. It’s about 20km away in this direction. There’s a lot of noise coming from the pedal… this is Manfla. It is a village of the Guro tribe.

Actually, Manfla was not in the first three villages that I was informed about by email. Can I see it in this village? Or… give me a cigarette! I don’t smoke. Maybe it’s better to go to the village center? This is the entrance to the village along the highway.

Let’s take a short bike ride to the center of Manfla. market! This is the center! Let’s eat something. Banana donut. I want to see it, Zaouli. As you can see, people gathered quickly so it was easy to ask around. And here I was able to meet the key person for this project. welcome! good? I want to see Zaouli. Dance and masks! You will talk to the village chief, to organize Zaouli. Tonight…

My English is bad. What I learned here is that in order to see the Zaouli dance, you need permission from several people, including the village chief, police, and musicians. Therefore, an English-speaking person came to act as an interpreter for them. Huge crowd. My point is… these villagers have never seen a yellow person.

That’s why everyone is by our side. I am the yellow person. It ‘s not as common as it is for white people . – That’s right. I understand what you mean. Name is? Jules. I’m ASAHI. What is your nationality? -Japan. I’m a Buddhist! Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. Japanese Buddhism here! Surprise!

After this, I will go to the village chief and the police to say hello. I might be able to see Zaouli dance. Some money… how much? But I don’t have a lot of money… How about 30,000 CFA (about 50 USD)? It depends on the content! let’s go!

We will now go to the village chief. Musicians and dancers also gathered and discussions were held in front of the village chief’s house. Since everyone usually works in the fields, the topic of discussion was finding a convenient date and time.

After the discussion, I happened to come across a dance practice scene and was really excited. The next morning, it was decided that I would be able to see the real thing performed by professional dancers. Sauce Grain. Now let me explain a little bit about Zaouli dance.

Zaouli is a dance passed down by the Guro people who live in central Ivory Coast. What’s amazing about Zaouli is his unique leg movements, which make him the fastest in the world. The powerful rhythm of live drums and the high-speed footwork performed by dancers in traditional costumes are shocking.

Zaouli has ancient origins and is deeply tied to the history of the Guro tribe, and the dancers are always male. It is an essential dance during traditional ceremonies and festivals, and Zaouli dancers can be found in every Guro village. Thus, Zaouli has played an important role in preserving ethnic identity.

Do you remember this street? We passed by here last night. Recently, it has been selected as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and has been increasingly used in commercials and music videos, attracting attention around the world. The world’s fastest dance “Zaouli”, a tradition of the Guro tribe, is about to begin.

It’s 8 o’clock in the morning. The dance begins here. amazing. It was so amazing. Zaouli is a symbol of our identity. Something that makes me proud. Guro’s identity is “Zaouli”. wherever you go. If you meet the Guro people, their main identity is Zaouli. It was a very good experience.

If you come back, don’t go anywhere, come here. Here is to you. Thank you. Manfla departure. This is the day after I saw the amazing Zaouli dance yesterday. It’s in the middle of Ivory Coast. The capital, Yamoussoukro, is about 40km away.

This is the village where I was yesterday. This is how I moved. The bottom bracket that was in poor condition is no longer good. This is dangerous. I have no choice but to replace the BB, but there may be a bicycle shop in Yamusukro that sells it.

If it’s not in Yamoussoukro, it’s Abidjan. I push my bike and walk, hoping that it can be repaired at Yamusukro. It may be the same pattern as last time. It’s a pattern where it gets fixed for a while, but then collapses again 4 days later. I’m sure you’ve noticed this method as well.

African style! This is BB. This is the part that supports the pedal. The problem with this is that there are so many different types that it is difficult to find the same one. Somehow, I was able to repair it to a condition where I could pedal.

However, just five days after this, it actually broke. The type of BB has changed. Because of this, I can only use two of the three front gears. (African style damage). Head to Abidjan. The route ahead. From current location Yamoussoukro to Abidjan.

Then I will stop at the world heritage town of Grand-Bassam and go to the Ghanaian border. First, take a look at the digest of the 250km and 4-day trip to Abidjan. It’s morning, but I found electricity and cold beer. cheers! It’s too delicious. The most important thing is charging.

Charging is finished. Fresh start. drug. 100CFA(0.2USD). odor! It smells like disinfectant. What’s this! (Anti-malarial natural medicine). 31km to Abidjan. It’s already sunset, so I’m going to eat dinner here. ATTIEKE. 300CFA(0.6USD). potato? – Yes. 400CFA(0.8USD). ATTIEKE today too. Consistently delicious! Locals full of energy. In this way, I was able to reach a point 10km before Abidjan. And the next day. After this breakfast I will arrive in Abidjan. About the name of the first dish I eat. good morning. Today’s breakfast. Something to eat for the first time.

Corn jelly? delicious. no. There’s not enough aftertaste. Let’s add something. okra sauce. This is delicious. Rice, okra and corn jelly. This is 300CFA (0.6USD). It starts today. This is 10km before Abidjan. Today I will pass through Abidjan and sleep by the sea. amazing! It’s very lively here. This is the ADJAME district.

Something good happened. I was cycling in the morning with the intention of passing through Abidjan, but there was one shop I wanted to stop by. It’s a bicycle shop that is said to have amazing technicians. I just wanted to ask him about the problem I’m currently having with my bicycle.

Then he said he might have it in stock in Abidjan and hopefully I’ll get it tomorrow. So I decided to spend one night in Abidjan. Now, where can I sleep? I looked for the cheapest accommodation, asked around, and this is the third one I’ve found. This is the cheapest. Room for 10000CFA (16.5USD).

But as you can see, I rented a camping space. I also rented a shower, so I paid 2000 CFA (3.3 USD). But they said, “You’re camping, you don’t need to pay.” thank you. I’ll stay here for one night and leave tomorrow. I left my luggage.

I want to buy shampoo and eat dinner, but first I want to get a haircut. What kind of hairstyle should I have? Same as you. like him. (Haircut 1000CFA/1.65USD). i feel good! It’s been 4 months! What is this called? I already forgot the name. Dokounou is very good! good morning. It’s 9am.

Camping in this backyard. thank you very much. I’m going to the bicycle shop. That’s the remover! Super easy! Look at the back! here! The part where the pedals are attached is called the crank arm.

If I had a special tool for this, I wouldn’t have to hit that part to remove it, so I thought I’d buy that remover as well. But since I’m heading back to the UK soon, I’ll just be replacing the bottom bracket today. This is broken. It’s only 5 days.

Because the cost of this was 3000CFA (5USD). (Total cost: 30,000CFA/50USD). Maybe we will meet in Japan too. Because my dream is to go to Japan. My brother and I are always searching about Japan. Moreover, my brothers watch a lot of Japanese anime. This trip will most likely end in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

Now that I can comfortably cycle that 500km, I’m looking forward to the next week. dinner. Plakali. It’s like a giant tapioca. This is the sauce in which the fish is stewed. This sauce goes well with Plakali. delicious. nice! nice! delicious! This is the taste I wanted. delicious! It’s as delicious as ramen soup.

Good morning. It’s 9am. I bought new clothes in Abidjan yesterday. This is 4000CFA (6.7USD). This is Grand-Bassam, a coastal town about 40km from Abidjan towards Ghana. Ivory Coast is a former French colony. This is a town where many traces of that history remain. I look here and then head to the Ghanaian border.

It’s hot today. It’s September 1st. Degue for breakfast. This is a food that contains grains called millet in a yogurt-like liquid. That’s 200CFA (0.35USD). Now let’s go to the historical district. The island-like land on the other side of the bridge is the historic district. This is one of them. A very old building.

1893. This was the capital of Ivory Coast when it was a French colony. You can see some buildings from the French colonial era that date back about 150 years. hospital? Is it still used? There is disinfectant. It’s still a hospital. I can’t go inside. Many of the old French-era buildings are still inhabited.

There are no tourists at all. Although it is a World Heritage Site, it has not yet become a tourist destination. what is that? Sauce Grain. (Sauce Graine). delicious. Spicy. It’s difficult to express. French-style sauce. Grand-Bassam has a relaxed atmosphere and an open atmosphere just like an island.

I really like how it feels quieter than I expected. This is also an old building from the French era. When staying in Abidjan, I recommend coming to Grand-Bassam for a day trip or overnight stay. You can swim in the sea, and the peaceful atmosphere is wonderful.

This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I returned to the entrance bridge. pharmacy. I want to eat coconut! This and that are all coconut trees. delicious. 130km to the Ghanaian border. After leaving Grand-Bassam, I camped along the way.

The next day, I arrived at a town just before the border. This is a town called Noe on the Ivory Coast side of the Ghana border. Today is Saturday, September 2nd. The time is 5:30pm and the border closes at 6pm. I will be leaving Cote d’Ivoire to enter Ghana. immigration?

When I left the country, I was also complained about the double entry of my Ivory Coast visa. I’m glad I was able to leave the country without any problems. But they said, “If you re-enter the country, we will refuse you at this border.” Thank you, Ivory Coast.

I see. This river is the border. Thank you for watching for a long time. The highlight of this time was definitely the Zaouli dance. It was a very satisfying trip to Ivory Coast where I saw amazing things. Please let me know what you think in the comments.

Next time is Ghana, my last country on this trip. Please subscribe to the channel and look forward to it! See you soon. Goodbye!

Guro族のみなさん、ありがとうございました。
