【ＳＳＳサイズ・ラジコン】tamiya　MF-01X(4輪駆動)をミニサイズに魔改造!?

Short! Today I’m going to modify Tamiya MF-01X. This modification 1.Modification to a very short wheelbase 2.Change to high speed gear 3.Make a headlight with a 100 yen LED light. Speaking of MF-01X, the wheelbase can be changed to S/M/L, but this time I would like to make it even smaller than S.

If you like, please take a look at the link in the super long wheelbase video summary section. The wheelbases for M chassis S/M/L sizes are 210mm, 225mm, and 239mm. First, I’m thinking of making a shorter propeller shaft, but I also want to speed it up, so I’ll modify it accordingly.

This is a standard modification that has been done by many of our predecessors, but we will change to the high speed gear of TL-01. The gear ratios are completely different, so if you compare the same motor, it will be considerably slower.

Change to high speed gear and change gear ratio from 7.56 to 5.8. First, disassemble it and replace the gear. The MF-01X has three units for changing the wheelbase, so you can combine them to change the length to your preference.

However, if you want to make a length other than S/M/L, you will need to make your own as there are no commercially available propeller shafts. short! It will be quite short, so it will be about the same as Tamiya’s comical series. It looks quite small compared to M-05(S).

Now I’m going to start replacing it with a high speed gear. Yes, I replaced it all at once. LOL (I forgot to press the record button) As you can see, the gears are a little loose compared to the original, but I’ll continue as is. From here, we will make the propeller shaft.

I think you can buy the aluminum round pipe used for the propeller shaft at a home center for around 200 yen. The size was cut to 134mm. . Drill a hole 15mm from the tip to secure the gear.

If you open it out of alignment, it won’t fit properly into the gear, so I opened it on one side and checked to make sure it wasn’t out of place. The small and short wheelbase MF-01X is completed.

However, since there is no body that fits this size, I purchased a 1/16 size body from Amazon. Next, I attached a bicycle bulb light (100 yen) that lights up with vibration to the headlight. Remove the cover to expose the LED. After installation, it looked like this.

So how fast did it get? Let’s run it to see how it behaves. Even on grassy areas, it runs well because it is originally a 4WD vehicle. By the way, the driving scene was cut out and edited from a 360 degree video using GOPRO MAX.

The suspension is a little stiff, so I think it will need some adjustment. Although the straight-line performance may have declined due to the shorter length, this short machine has a unique feel and is fun to operate.

I forgot, but when it’s sunny this much, the LEDs aren’t noticeable. When the sky was cloudy and I was indoors, the light was bright and nice. Now that you’re back in your room, how was the ride? What I particularly noticed was the increased speed and improved turning performance.
