【1人旅の魅力】地図にない秘境巡りの旅。小さな軽自動車で1200キロの車中泊旅

Hello. It’s FUU. This time I went on a long trip of 1200km. The destination of the trip is Shirakawa-go, a village that is not on the map. There’s a lot of narration, but I’d be happy if you could watch it until the end. I’m currently in the Suwako service area.

To save on highway tolls, I would leave late at night and take a nap. When you wake up in the service area, you feel like you’re on a journey and it’s exciting! First, let’s eat breakfast and get ready for the long drive!

Today’s destination is Nishido Village. This place is not on recent maps and cannot be found even when searching on Google Maps. The Nishinoto village has been uninhabited since the last resident moved there 50 years ago. It seems that place names were on maps a few decades ago, but they are gradually being forgotten.

I love learning about the history of old villages and abandoned villages, so I’m really looking forward to it. The distance from the current location to the destination village is approximately 240 km. After heading west for a while, it started to snow in earnest.

It seems that a heavy snow warning has been issued today, and some expressways have been closed. I’m glad I left before it was closed (^^) I arrived safely in Gifu Prefecture. Although I got off at the wrong interchange, I was able to get there without any major problems.

Since it was a long distance, the expressway toll was expensive! Climb up the forest road all the way to the Nishinoto village. It’s wide enough for a Jimny to pass through, but it might be difficult for a large car. I could see the scenery like the world of Ghibli! Navigation no longer appears.

After walking for about 20 minutes, I came across a house that was about to collapse. I don’t feel anyone’s presence. We arrived at Nishido Village. It seems like it’s a dead end here, so I’m going to take a walk.

The Nishinoto village was formed around 1600. At its peak, there were about 47 homes. In the past, there was a school there and it was lively. From around 1920, people migrated to various places in search of rich farmland and food.

The last resident moved out in 1970. Since then, no one has lived there and it has become an abandoned village. It is said that the old residents sometimes visit to check on the situation, but as they are elderly, this village will soon be forgotten.

This stone monument was built at the time by residents pooling their money together. The distribution of residents is written. When I see villages that are returning to nature without people, I feel lonely. Will the Nishinoto village be forgotten over time? . . Head north toward your destination.

The sun has set, so I’ll sleep somewhere else today and head to Shirakawa-go tomorrow. There’s a hot spring nearby so I’m heading there! I arrived at the hot spring, but it was temporarily closed! ! ! There are no hot springs nearby, so I’ll give up and go in tomorrow morning.

The place where I slept in the car this time is my favorite place where I took this photo a year ago. The current temperature in Shirakawa Village is -3°. We eat hot pot dishes like winter. Cheers Payday is a luxurious meal (^^)

Both the hotpot and tuna are so delicious that I can’t help but sigh. I also brought an electric blanket so I can sleep comfortably. I’m going to head to the hot springs to get the hot sandwich you mentioned in the comments

The snowy scenery of Shirakawa-go is very beautiful. I went to Shirakawa-go last year as well. I came on a trip again this year because I wanted to see the spectacular view from that time again.

I arrived at the hot spring! After washing off two days worth of dirt, we will go sightseeing in Shirakawa-go! Shirakawa-go, which is registered as a World Heritage Site, has over 100 Gassho-zukuri buildings, where people still live there today. The triangular roof, designed to withstand heavy snow, is a traditional Japanese building.

I want to cherish this wonderful scenery forever (^^) You can come to Shirakawa-go as many times as you like. I will go again next year. I’m now heading to Shizuoka Prefecture. Tomorrow I’ll ride my bike in Izu and go home. The second half of the 1200km journey is finally here.

I was tired from driving a long distance, so I decided to stay at an inn. Since I was able to stay cheaply with a business plan, I decided to eat at a nearby izakaya. I’m going to eat a lot of my favorite food and drink alcohol (^^)

I’m going to get some food for the night. I drank delicious sake and got comfortably drunk. It’s a healthy breakfast. Relax until the check-out time. I’m going to Biker’s Paradise now. If it was sunny, we would have seen a spectacular view, but unfortunately it was cloudy.

There is no snow on the road, so I will ride a rental bike. We arrived at Bikers Paradise! I always look forward to seeing so many bikes on display. There were many classic bikes on display that day. There were many old models of Harley-Davidson and TRIUMPH on display.

I was attracted to YAMAHA’s SR400. TRIUMPH was cool too! ! This time, I was able to enjoy the scenery of Shirakawa-go while learning about the history of Nishido Village, so it was a very fulfilling trip. I have a report for you all. This spring, I can finally travel to Hokkaido!
