Naitai Kogen Ranch Japan’s largest public ranch located in Kamishihoro Town, Hokkaido. The total area is approximately 1,700 ha (the size of 358 Tokyo Domes), and you can enjoy grazing cattle and walking around. It made me think about Japan’s territorial issue again. In the exhibit at the museum, there are people who actually lived in the Northern Territories at the time. There was a story about the experience of someone who actually witnessed the Russian occupation, and it was written as follows.

“We were elementary school students at the time. One day, the Russians suddenly attacked, and we had to live together with Russian elementary school students.” I also made many Russian friends. If possible, I would like to meet the Russian friends I spent time with back then. I wonder if he’s still doing well. .

I felt that it wasn’t just the bad memories of having their hometown taken away from them, but also the feelings that only those who lived at the time could understand. I too hope that one day I will be able to visit the Northern Territories.
