Hi everyone, the Year of the Dragon has arrived. Today is the first ride of the new year. We are going to go to Luhu Lake at the foot of Baiyun Mountain from the Jianshe Street in the center of Guangzhou. There are many green areas and beautiful walking trails and cycling trails.

Let’s go there. In a circle, we welcome the New Year. Opposite the Jianshe Avenue is the Huanshi Avenue , an east-west trunk line in Guangzhou. It was also one of the busiest places in the early days of reform and opening up. There is still some flavor of the New Year here.

Look at the trees on the side of the road. There are strings of red lanterns and many buildings in front of them are decorated with luminous characters such as “Celebrate the Spring Festival”. The construction road on the right has been under construction in recent years and there is a new subway project.

This is Guangzhou back then. One of the three five-star hotels in the early days of reform and opening up, the Garden Hotel, I walked around in front of the door. It was also my workplace, so it is still a place worth recalling. Right across the road is the Guangzhou Friendship Store,

And there are many commercial buildings here. They are all a product of the end of the last century. Originally, this area was supposed to be the earliest developed area in the early days of Guangzhou’s reform and opening up. However, as the urban center of Guangzhou moved eastward to Tianhe,

This area felt a bit stagnant. But anyway, it is still here . It is a commercial district that everyone loves to see , but there are still some old houses that need to be updated. They have turned around on the Ouzhuang Interchange. Now when you ride back from Huanshi East Road,

The Electronics Building on the right side is the office of many Japanese companies that were members of the Japan Chamber of Commerce. The location here has been turned into the Orange Crystal Hotel. It should have been a Holiday Inn back then. This area is the famous Overseas Chinese Village. This was

A residence specially built to house some overseas Chinese after liberation . There are many independent bungalows in it. These old buildings are fortunately preserved today. They are all worth a lot of money. Either they have become some catering shops or they have become the residences of some dignitaries.

There is an Overseas Chinese Foreign Language School here. I believe it has been a school for a long time. It has been a long time since I came to this Overseas Chinese Village. The environment inside Overseas Chinese Village is quite well maintained. In fact, it is very big inside. I didn’t finish shopping

, I just took a turn inside to get a feel for the atmosphere of this old housing estate. But in fact, great changes have taken place in this housing estate. In the past, many old people The owners have left here. Instead, some new rich people bought and renovated the houses here

And turned them into luxury houses in the city. Now I go back to Huanshi East Road and ride towards Luhu Lake where I want to go . There are many places where I left my footprints and many good memories. In front of me is the Baiyun Hotel,

Right next to the Guangzhou Friendship Store. This high-rise building was built in the mid-1970s (slip of the tongue). It should be the tallest building in the country. The reason why the unique high-rise building was a product of the Cultural Revolution at that time was that Guangzhou had the Canton Fair,

Which was not interrupted even during the ten-year catastrophic Cultural Revolution. It was just to retain such a window for foreign exchanges and business . Therefore, Guangzhou still enjoyed some special policies at that time . This is The origin of Baiyun Hotel is that many of these houses have been preserved and

Are now businesses or restaurants. There was a middle school here that used to be my alma mater , so it is a place with many memories. And in the front right is the tallest building in Guangzhou. It is known as the 63-story Guangdong International Building.

Of course, this building has changed its owner several times. It seems to be the Crown Hotel now, and its podium is the place where the first McDonald’s in Guangzhou was born. My right hand The Guangdong TV Center that moved over from Liuhua Road is the Guangdong TV station.

Now I have turned onto Luhu Road and rode in the direction of Luhu. Now I have entered the Baiyun Mountain Luhu Scenic Area , which is what we call Luhu. A new entrance was built in a few years. On the right side, many previous buildings were demolished and turned into an open space.

It is a kind of Western architectural design style. In the front left is Luhu Lake . I plan to make a U-turn here and go clockwise. Come ride a circle around Luhu Lake. Now on my right is Luhu Lake. A few days ago , my family and I drank tea and had lunch

At the only restaurant here called Luming Restaurant. We were here for a while. After a look, there are continuous hills. The highest point is Baiyun Mountain. Although it is a holiday now, there are not many people , maybe because the weather is colder. Now I will follow the road and walk around Lulu

Lake. Lulu Lake is a place similar to Guangzhou. The West Lake in Hangzhou is of course not as wide as the West Lake , but it can definitely be called a lake area , and the features of its gardens can really be compared with the West Lake

, or it can be called a mini West Lake-type scenic spot. I am riding now. This road is a car lane surrounding the lake . There are relatively few people on both sides and there are lush green belts with trees. I have taken photos on Luhu Lake several times

Before, whether riding or walking. Friends who are interested can check out my previous photos. Those videos are all in my channel. I should still keep them . Today I just enjoy the first ride of the new year. It’s such a pleasure . I talk less and look at the surrounding scenery more

To feel this joyful mood . There is a mountainside here. The hotel does not have a public parking lot on the Luhu side. If you come by car , except for tea and dinner at Luming Restaurant, the only parking available is at the Panshan Hotel, but you need to pay

In front of the Jufangyuan Luhu Park. The park above should be a public area , but this side is also the starting point of the Baiyun Mountain Yundao Greenway. Go all the way to the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and there is a golf course on the left. But now it seems that

The name has been changed to Huamei Golf Club. In front of it is Luming. The restaurant is almost the only one here . In fact, if you park your car and go for a walk by the lake, it will be more intimate with the water and more interesting. But today I

Just rode around the lake. On the left is the parking lot dedicated to Luming Restaurant. Those who don’t eat are not allowed to park , but generally those who eat can park for free . This is Xinghai Garden , which is the place commemorating Xian Xinghai. The bridge in front of the door

Is called Xinghai Bridge. There is a golf course on the left side, so the environment here is excellent. There is also a golf course. There are some private villas that can be regarded as luxury houses with tranquility in the bustle. When I got here, I was supposed to turn right and go back,

But I still planned to go to the foot of Baiyun Mountain and ride for a while. From the street sign, I could see the sign for Baiyun Mountain. I wanted to ride over there and go to a construction site on the left where the No. 11 subway was being built.

After this station is built , it will be very convenient to get to Baiyun Mountain. On the right is the sign in front of Hengzhigang Road. Look at the sign for Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area and you just need to keep walking forward. On the left is Yuntai Garden and the Baiyun Cableway

. A ropeway to the top of Baiyun Mountain starts from here. On the right side is a bus station, Yuntai Garden Bus Station. This is the most economical way for ordinary people to come here. It is to take a bus like this. In front of it

, there is the Baiyun Mountain South Gate Visitor Center passing by. Over the years, a kind of re-planning and construction has opened up this area that was originally a forest and turned it into a lawn, which looks much more open. You can see the ropeway on the upper left, which

Makes it very convenient to go down the mountain to the mountain . When the ropeway reaches the mountain gate, there is a big slope. I can only push the cart to the front of the mountain gate. That is the end point of my ride today. Like the Luhu Lake just now, Baiyun Mountain

Is also one of the best leisure areas for Guangzhou citizens. From here You can climb mountains and look far to have a panoramic view of the city . I have hiked many times before, but now I am putting up a sign like this for the Guangzhou Garden Expo.

I see a beautiful small commercial plaza has been built next to the south gate. McDonald’s, etc. The fast food restaurant we are waiting for is the south gate of Baiyun Mountain. If you want to go up the mountain , go up here. But it used to be possible to go up by car

, but it is said that it seems that it is not possible now , or some doors are available. This door should not be able to. Behind me is Baiyun Mountain. The south gate of the South Gate is now regarded as the end point of my ride today.

I am going to ride back from here . Thank you for watching. Our first ride of the new year will be bye bye in the next section.
