I Rode 150,000 km Around the World | Milestone Celebration in Yukon, Canada – EP. 264

That’s it! This is my last day in Alaska. After two and a half weeks, I need to get out of here. Back to Canada. It’s been an incredible journey. Really, I had the best time here. I rode in all sorts of weather conditions.

The majority of the time, I was camping along the way. It was just epic. Absolutely. But, yes. It’s time to close this chapter. There’s plenty of Canada still to see this summer, and the rest of the states, so we are – We are on the run. So we have a hundred miles

To the border, and that’s it! We’re back to Canada. [Intro Music] Who are you? What was that? Oh dear. I’m – These are the roadworks. I don’t know for how long. I think ten miles by now? We’re following this pilot car. And we’re going so slow. And it’s so hot. Okay! We made it to the border! That’s it! Okay. Let’s do customs. This was strange. I didn’t have to stop here! This is American customs, and when you exit the States, they don’t care about you. So we’ll be following this road for another 20 miles, and we’re gonna do immigration and customs

On the Canadian side. So long, Alaska. That’s it. We’re out! Woohoo! Back to Yukon! Larger than life! There you go. Welcome to Canada. And we’re here. I don’t know how many kilometers was that. 20? 30 kilometers later? We have the Canadian border. Very quiet border crossing. Although, we have a little bit of line-up here. And it’s hot. All right. Okay! That’s it. We’re in! That was nice and smooth. Just a – Whoa, Chillie.

Just a passport check. Okay, now we’re officially back to Canada. On a gorgeous day. 25 degrees. Can you imagine? In Yukon. Wow. It’s gonna be a long day. Apparently, this road from here, for another, I don’t know, 300 k’s, the majority of that road will be roadworks and this sort of scenario, so. I’m bored. I want to ride. Oh, we’re going so slow. We’re going so slow. I am so bored. I just wanna go

A little bit faster. Today is Chillie’s birthday! Yes! In 10 kilometers, we’ll be celebrating Chillie’s birthday. Chillie. One kilometer left. And you’re gonna be 150,000 kilometers old! Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Looks like we’re gonna be celebrating on this gravel road.

Which is not a bad thing. And… And… And you turned 150,000! Yay! Well done, Chillie. Happy birthday, mate. Let’s stop here. To celebrate it. To have an epic picture together. Yes. Well done, you. [Applause] We left Australia six and a half years ago. And since then, we’ve covered Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, and now we’re doing North America. So, yeah. 150,000 kilometers together from the beginning. Five continents. And she’s still in such a great shape. No engine rebuild. Nothing. Still the same gearbox. She’s just the perfect bike.

And we still have another 150 to go. I’m telling you, she’s in such great condition. So if anyone is asking me why I’m riding this bike, that’s why. Because she’s been a great bike. She’s been so reliable. The only issues we’ve ever had was really

Suspension, which is understandable with the amount of load I have on this bike. Last summer, I had to replace one wheel bearing on the starter. A few fuel pumps, but that’s easy to fix. That’s about it. That’s the only issues I’ve ever had with her, so… Thank you, Chillie. Happy birthday, Chillie!

Happy birthday, Chillie! Happy birthday, Chillie, Chillie. Happy birthday, Chillie! Happy birthday, Chillie. You’re the best bike ever. Another 150,000. On the same engine! That’s it. You can do it, mate. You can do it! All right, Chillie. Let’s keep going into the unknown! Hopefully for a long time together. So this road is a mixture of unpaved gravel like that. We should be on this gravel for quite some time. And this is our time, I think, to overtake them so we’re not in the dust. Yup. The rain’s all the way there. Right ahead of us. And it’s heavy. Hopefully not for too long. And it’s raining. Chillie! Rain? On your birthday? That’s not – Not cool at all! So, I’ve decided to stay here in the motel. They had a room. At the petrol station. How convenient. All right.

Let’s go out the back. Room 20. That’s us, Chillie. That’s us here. All right. Let’s see. Clean. No rain. It’s a good sign at the start of the day. Today we’re going to Whitehorse. Back to Whitehorse. I really like that city. So,

It’s only 250 kilometers away. We’re gonna stay there. Stop there over night. Catch up with a beer with the girls. Get some supplies, and then we’re gonna go into the wildness again! Yup. That’s the plan. That’s a beautiful lake! So, yeah.

I was planning to camp here last night. Somewhere at the lake. But the weather was below average. Look at this mountain range. So beautiful. Very cool. It’s a big lake. And we’re back to the Big Smoke. Back to Whitehorse. I’ll be staying here at the same hotel. I went to my favorite shop, which is Canadian Tire, of course. And… What else did I do? Yeah. Put chain lube. Engine oil. I’m good to go! All organized. Is the frame straight?

Maybe it’s better now. Okay, I fixed my hair. Fix my hair. Fix my t-shirt. Alaska and all. Professional. Morning. And my plans changed just like that. What a surprise. Quite usual for me. So I was planning to go to B.C. and just go across Canada today, but

I’ve decided I will go to Skagway. Skagway is in Alaska, so I have to cross the border again. It’s just this little thin strip below Yukon. Because this weekend, there’s an event happening in Haines, which is close to Skagway. We just need to catch a ferry to that town. So I can’t resist.

I just have to go. So I’ll see Skagway, I’ll see Haines this weekend, and tomorrow, girls from Whitehorse – local riders – will join me for the event, so we’re just gonna have so much fun. It’s gonna be a good weekend. You ready for this? I am ready. So I found this rock.

It was just right here, next to Chillie. In Yukon, right? In Whitehorse. And the rock has this at the back. So I think we’re just gonna take it and carry it with us for a little bit, and maybe drop it off somewhere in B.C. in Canada.

Chillie, are you ready to take the rock with us? Ah, you’ll be fine. You’re overloaded anyway. Welcome on board, rock! You’re coming with us! Before I leave Whitehorse – Actually, yes, we are on the outskirts of Whitehorse at the moment, but

I’m gonna go – on the way out, I’m gonna go through this beautiful canyon. Apparently, it’s beautiful. I’ve never seen it. Ah! Seaplanes! Have you seen seaplanes before? They’re just like this. Landed on the water. Isn’t it cool? They go on the sea. Look at that. This is so cool! Seaplane!

Chillie, you wanna have a picture with the seaplane? Yeah, let’s have a picture together with the seaplane. I’ve never flown a seaplane in my life. I wish I did. One day, Chillie. We’ll get to do it. Okay. So… Uh… Oh. Oh, sh– My – You know what happened? I knew this was gonna happen eventually. This was in the way and I’m like, oh my God, Chillie.

Excuse me! Pardon me! Do you mind helping me? Yeah, sure. Thank you! My – My – My selfie stick blocked my wheel. Thank you so much. Hold on, I’m gonna put this so I don’t have to take everything off. That’s all right. And we can throw it on this way.

Thank you so much. You’re welcome. [Kinga] That’s all good. Now we can steer. Good. Right. Where were we? I can’t remember when the last time I dropped Chillie. That was handy. I didn’t have to take the gear off and lose my energy. He was very helpful. That’s very nice of him.

Okay! Let’s just keep going and see what’s here. Just seaplanes! Okay. Right, I think this is it. This is a dead end? Maybe not? Oh, let’s just go to the end. We’re going through the puddle. Aww, that’s nice! There’s a chair. There you go, Chillie. How’s that? That’s a beautiful view.

That’s cool! I love it. This is very cool! Quiet little spot. Lots of people are kayaking and flying their planes. Super cool. That was worth seeing. It is a beautiful canyon. That was – That was a nice goodbye to Whitehorse. And now, we’re going to the border! We’re gonna go back to Alaska! For two days. Woo! That’s a cool viewpoint. Look at that! Let’s fly a drone! Another viewpoint. This road is so beautiful and so scenic. Look at this. I wish we had a little bit of more sun. It would be better for the photography, but it’s okay. It’s not raining, so that’s good. This looks different! This is definitely the most scenic Yukon road I’ve ever taken. So much beauty here. Wow. So dramatic, you know what I mean? This road to Skagway definitely is the most scenic Yukon road I’ve done. Yeah, it’s just spectacular. I keep flying my drone. I just can’t help myself! Over there! Glacier. And over there! And over there. Glacier, glacier, glacier. Wow. Okay. We’re at the border crossing. I probably should take – put all the cameras down. Okay, this one can stay here. Maybe this one will go… I have to take you down. Bye for now. See you later. [Outro Music]

I must say, Alaskan police are the best people ever. I didn’t – I mean, I got a warning, but I didn’t get the ticket. Thank you so much. This is Vlad. We want to make sure you get home safe, okay? [Kinga] Thank you! Thank you so much.

And we had a great conversation because Vlad was born in Uzbekistan, and I’ve been to Uzbekistan! So, yeah. Thank you so much, sir! All right. Please to meet you. [Kinga] It was a pleasure to meet you. Drive safely, okay? [Kinga] Thanks! Bye! [Outro Music]

The moment I left Alaska, my motorcycle odometer clicked 150,000 km! At this point, I’d ridden through 5 continents in 6.5 years. This was an emotional moment, to be honest. And on top of that, in this episode, I’m showing you the most scenic landscapes of Yukon and British Columbia in Canada.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don’t know my final destination or the duration of this journey.

Throughout my journey, I’m raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family lead as normal a life as possible so please donate generously: https://gogetfunding.com/arewethereyet/

None of that would be possible without my official sponsors:

  2. Good Evening Gorgeous Lady,
Yes, your hair is fabulous! Congratulations on Chillie's mileage. I have a few bikes I've taken over 100,000 miles, but they needed work to baby them that far. You have been extremely lucky with this bike and we are all grateful with you. Every week you've made me miss Alaska and riding. We just had a snow storm here in Iowa so I spent a night out camping to test my newest sleeping bags. I do miss winter camping with my son but not as much as I miss riding so I am living through you until this jib is done and I can head south.
With Love and Respect, You are in my prayers
    Hoka Hey
