Life in KL | Day out with friends and family | Day trip to the outskirts of Ulu Yam

Hi everyone! Today I’m attempting to make myself a cup of latte I’ve not been making latte at home for quite awhile It’s because I don’t have much time in the morning especially on weekdays Black coffee is just so much faster and easier to prep

Today will be an exception since it’s a weekend 🙂 Nice and thick coffee crema there! Sorry for the bad angle! Fail miserably! I will do better next time 🙂 The first sip is always the best! Cookie and Bella’s morning activity <3 You can't have a bad day when you start your morning with coffee Even mediocre coffee is better than none 🙂 Today we're here to celebrate my aunt's birthday! Thai Spring Rolls Mango Salad Thai Prawn Cake Paku Salad Pad Thai Noodle Tom Yum Soup Miang Kam Phuket Crab Curry Green Curry Chicken Grilled chicken with mango salad Khao Soi I think we may have ordered everything in the menu 🙂 Time for celebration! After lunch we head over to Ms Shortcakes to checkout their Chinese New Year offers They are experts in couture wedding cakes as well as customed cakes for all occassions Looks like they are already quite busy for the CNY season These are the Chinese gold ingot cookies! These are dragon cookies which I believe they will be painted in green Cookies which resembles clouds and lotus flowers as well The perfect handmade cookies as CNY gifts As we're still full from lunch, we've decided to come checkout this massive retail store I heard this place sells all kinds of stuffs from kitchenware, household, lifestyle and more This place is quite massive This place has 3 floors in total There's everything for everyone They have even camping stuffs Although some of the stuffs are cheap, I find that they are lacking in quality But there are stuffs that you can't find elsewhere but here 🙂 I'm here with some friends for dinner My friends told me that this place serves high quality smoked meat They also have a refillable station for their sauces and Banchan Guess their food must be good. This place is packed! We've ordered the beef and pork feast Which also comes with a Steamed Egg Lava Potato Pancake So good!! At this point, I have to agree that the quality of meat here is on another level They are fresh, tender and juicy as compared to many Korean BBQ restaurants in KL Pork Lard Kimchi Fried Rice The perfect way to end the evening after a long day out Stretch stretch XD Today I'll be riding up Genting Sempah First things first, I gotta fuel myself before heading uphill Breakfast the Malaysian way - Nasi Lemak The Genting Sempah route is an old route up to Genting Highlands Cyclists loves to ride this route as its very cooling and serene all the way up The total elevation to the peak is 562m / 1844feet The total distance from home is about 70km The sense of freedom while cycling here is priceless Cycling can help you discover new paths Explore your surroundings and places at your own pace and connect with your body and mind As someone who has been riding bikes since I was young I can attest to the fact that the joy of cycling never fades Time to go. The scenery here never cease to amaze me every time I come 🙂 Till next time Today, I'm heading out to the outskirt of Ulu Yam Ulu Yam is one of the oldest towns in Hulu Selangor District, Selangor This small town is also famous for their Loh Mee and eco tourism There are many Loh Mee restaurants along the main streets of the town However, this particular restaurant is slightly hidden inside a small village area “Loh” refers to the thick starchy gravy. “Mee” refers to the noodles This dish was founded by Mr. Hock Choon Kee He was exiled to Ulu Yam during the British adminstration due his involvement in communism This noodles eventually spread to all over Malaysia and is now known as Ulu Yam Loh Mee The owner told us that the noodles are handmade by them Nice and firm noodles. Just nice if you're not planning for a heavy meal This shop belongs to the same owner of the restaurant The shop carries some their pastries, noodles and other local Ulu Yam products This is their fresh handmade Loh Mee Interesting to see so many produce from Ulu Yam. Let's head over to the next destination If you're in Ulu Yam, you have to come and checkout this place This place one of the largest orchid genus farms in Malaysia The ones outside here are just the tip of an iceberg Besides orchids, this place also have a cafe overlooking a small pond This is the view from the cafe behind me This waterlily pond looks just like a scene out of an impressionist painting Cafe patrons can dine amongst an impossibly picturesque setting right before them Admission is open and free to the public If you're looking to bring home a pot of orchid, this is just the right place for you Great place for a short getaway HoHo Farm is an organic farm located in Ulu Yam There's also a cafe here called Kebun for anyone who wants to chill inside a farm 🙂 There's even a homestay here The cafe has a rustic charm to it with exposed brick walls and large windows The cafe was launched by the founder of Ho Ho Organic Farm There’s also an outdoor seating area for those who wants to get closer to nature Since I'm here, I might as well buy some of their organic vegetables back to KL The price is cheaper here by the way 🙂 Before I end this Vlog, I would like to share a heartbreaking news to everyone I've lost Bella before I can finish with editing this Vlog She didn't survived in a hit & run accident outside my house This is the last time that I'll feature her in my vlog I'm heart broken but I hope she's in a better place right now In memory of Bella. You may have left my life, but you'll never leave my heart
