廃校跡地に行くと、ひときわ目を引くものがあった。それは、バイクだった。錆びついてボロボロになっているが、よく見ると「リトル・ホンダ」というロゴが刻まれている。これは、原動機付自転車の始祖と言われるものだ。自転車に小型のエンジンを取り付けたもので、今でいう電動アシスト自転車と構造はほとんど同じだ。人間の技術なんてさほど進化していないことが分かると同時に、時代の流れを感じずにはいられなかった。
