We rented a motorbike in Vietnam!

Hi I’m Liz and I’m Charlie and we’re  the adventure closet and today we’re   uh ring a bike for the first time  in Vietnam so come along with us all right we just got ourselves a motorbike here’s to uh riding streets of Vietnam

All right wish us luck guys if  you’re seeing this video we made it so at the gas stations here you um pull up and   then somebody will fill it for  you you just take your cap off  how much was that 65,000 so $2.50ish and  we got a full tank all right let’s go

Squirly wow look over there wow woo Vietnam! yeah buddy the lotus flowers bloom today we’re  down the same road we were in the   last episode but going a little  further now that we have wheels some sort of Temple lets check it out

So we just stopped off here I’m not sure what this  is but there’s uh stairs going up into this cave here yeah there’s Maybe it’s a pretty bad looking machine yeah this is beautiful interesting uh with the  cobras with the red lights in their

Mouths this is what the stone  structure of the cave looks like looks like there’s some slight marbling going on oh my gosh get this sign up here don’t fall off the cliff let’s go wow wow

So Charlie just realized he needs to move money  from his wallet uh so that he doesn’t have very   much in his wallet because what happens here  in Vietnam what we learned is um you can get

Pulled over and the police will want you to pay  bribes um so if you don’t have a lot of money on   you then the bribe is only uh somebody just if you  don’t have a lot of money on you then the bribe is

Pretty much what you have so um I know it sounds  silly but that’s just the way it works here I’ll   just sck it in my other pocket here and another  thing we should be doing is having a face mask

Because having a face mask makes you look more  like a local and and uh less have to be pulled   over also keeps dirt and bugs out of your hair  there’s no way I’m going to look like a local

I’m like six times the size of a local yeah  that’s okay but you know every precaution you   can take yeah this is a TOS Temple over here  should we show them yeah let’s go around to

The other side okay so the first temple we saw  was a Buddhist temple and this one is a taoist temple taoist taoist s like Palace  it’s a palace Temple it looks like a palace oh n oh hold on I’m holding hello massage that sounded cool yeah woohoo wow waa those look

Nice Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous over there on this there’s no horn well what the  heck yeah there is oh you got it okay hard to use to this is beautiful this be a great box photo  spot if you want to but we’ll get more

We’re in Ninh Binh and we’re going to stop  at the tour company to see uh if they have   Charlie’s hat the um place that we took  the limousine into ton this is uh kind   of crazy driving in the city it’s not  as busy as Hanoi but it’s a little busy

You’re getting the hang of really fast  though yeah my butt hurts though mine too well they didn’t have his  hat but we’re stopping at this park oh its Chow hello puppy oh are you a good puppy you want to put your helmet you  never seen somebody like me huh

Oh oh yeah we can put the  helmets on inside huh yeah right make sure we don’t okay you think these are  still in use a little rust stage there you go wow there’s a bicycle in this Pond we parked over there and  we’re just checking this area

Out here’s a close look at uh the  style of brooms we see a lot over   here in Vietnam it’s looks like it’s  abandoned bamboo or yeah it looks   like it’s bamboo with the leaves  dried up and then tied together H interesting it’s a beautiful Park

Yeah City yeah we’re in the big city  of ninin they didn’t have Charlie’s hat but that’s okay I stole his new  green one and he wears my other   one cuz my other one is adjustable and  fits better and I kind of like the green one looks like uh a rock

Slide there’s two of them here interesting uh looks like it was a beautiful  place I mean it still is a beautiful place but   it looks like it was even more beautiful back  in its Heyday whenever that would have been

Um just green everywhere kind of right in  the middle of the city all different kinds of trees and that’s either a museum  or a school I’m not entirely sure I   think on Google it says there’s a museum  around here but it’s closed because it’s Sunday those are giant

Clovers looks like this might have  been uh some green houses at one point maybe a caretaker Shack but like this is just a a beautiful  Park and almost nobody’s here there’s like   very few people at this park gosh look  at these look at these bendy trees here

Are yeah somebody spent a a lot of  time uh bending those into shape I’m sure this still has got to be  the funnest thing that to do is   just explore areas like not even do the  touristy stuff um while that’s beautiful itself yeah this park is

Amazing and it’s nice and quiet too you can still  hear a little bit of the city in the background   but this is a good like break from all the hustle  and bustle of the horns and motorbikes and such this looks like a place where the old  men would come and play some Chinese

Chess yeah this park is huge too I got there had to be something here too right  in the that centerpiece cuz there’s a walkway to it and some nice tile on the sides  oh yeah had electricity to it and   possibly Plumbing so it could have been  another Fountain here and then there’s

The framework for something  else over there and a power box so interesting and in the  center of it all this amazing Limestone there was a fountain as well so this amazing Limestone  Fountain here this used to be a fountain

Beautiful it is muggy oh yeah so what was it like  driving a motorcycle in Vietnam for the first time   um a little stressful to be honest uh but it was  fun it’s beautiful just exploring the whole area

It’s amazing you did an awesome job thanks and I  think I was killing it back there yeah like yeah   I was leaning into those turns and you you didn’t  make me wobble once so oh that’s good that’s good

Was worried about that yeah so we picked up these  uh b m that are like prepackaged they’re like 40 CS should we crack into these yeah says Ben  me ticked which I think is duck no duck is

Vit oh vit yeah so it must be oh there’s  a picture of a chicken yeah I think it   might just be meat in general but chicken I  don’t know yeah we’ll see all right they are gigantic just like a little sandwich come  with egg on them okay it looks like it’s

Egg Yol looks like egg yolk and shredded  cheese it does but I’m sure that’s like   shredded chicken probably like a chicken  floss is it Pai I didn’t see pomai I know   I think it’s just like egg sauce and chicken  I mean to be honest that does not look very

Appetizing it’s really dry yeah I’m sure it is but that’s the first bite you know  honestly the bread itself is not that dry it’s just dry eating it cuz this all I bread and it tastes like aaian roll it

Does well driving around today kind of gave us  an idea like what to what we want to drive to if   we want to rent the bike for another day it was  $4 to rent the bike for the entire day today we

Just bring it up back by the end of the night we  didn’t even have to do any paperwork or anything   like we’re just like hey can we take the bikes  and they’re like yep here’s the key here’s the

Key have you ridden a bike driven a bike before  and that was the only prerequisite yeah and I   don’t think they’d care if I didn’t yeah and we  we had bikes a long time ago um we had a lot of

Bikes a long time yeah but we’re both out of  practice so yeah um check engine lights on on   the bike um was on when we got it it’s got 46,000  km on it already and uh the speedometer doesn’t

Work but it still still runs and drives the fuel  gauge works which is good the fuel gauge does work   cuz a lot of them don’t have a fuel gauge and  we did pick up international driver’s licenses but I don’t know we don’t have  a motorcycle endorsement and we

Heard they don’t work in Vietnam like AAA  says they do but everywhere else says they don’t so we’re winging it we’ve seen  maybe two cops total I can out run them so it had a little bit of spice to it um it didn’t taste or smell bad for being an

Egg bom me it wasn’t really that bad  for something that you can take with you yeah for the price yeah  Sor right we did get something else oh yes some bapg Z bow nice try it looks like it’s sweet buttered corn flavored flavored something oh I guess I should show you guys

What kind of sucked today is the uh we were  going to use the GoPros to film on the bikes   and the go neither GoPro was working yeah  hopefully it’s just the batteries yeah I hope   so what kind of shape are these are they  like little squid shapes I don’t know if

They’re any shape they’re weird um they they  taste like sweet buttered corn they’re not bad like it’s an actual corn  flavor they’re not what I expected yeah they kind of have the texture of um a cross between the crunchy Cheetos and  the puff Cheetos yeah they’re not crunchy

But they have that texture if that makes  sense I like them I would get those again yeah they taste like corn mhm well that  was fun well that was fun thank you for   liking and subscribing and all the things you  do thanks for even watching yeah we appreciate

It and stay tuned for more Vietnam adventures  and we’ll see you on the next one bye now bye   now you still here oh okay you want some and scene cut

  1. What a fun day, lots of beautiful places. Glad to see more normal looking roads to ride on (with your sissy butts) I was a bit concerned by the title. lol I'm thinking those rock slides were for water features in their day. Might even be from one of the water feature areas? Riding is really fun even when you are the passenger. Word of unsolicited advice Liz, don't lean into curves with him & keep your belly button lined up with his spine, head should never turn more than to your shoulders. It's all balance for him. I'm only offering this up because I've only ever gotten compliments being the passenger. It will be lots more fun with practice but PLEASE don't ride back to your original neighborhood, that place's traffic is insane! lol

  2. Those bikes are so fun to explore on! What’s your favorite food you both have tried so far? Is there something you tried you had to push yourself to do it?

  3. It's no Opal, but I guess she'll do😁👍 You both look so happy and excited. It's so awesome seeing you guys having fun.🥳 BTW, if I miss an episode or another live, I just decided that I'm building a rock slide in my backyard, so It might be a while until I'm on the internet again.🤷‍♂️ Love the videos.💯 P.S. Charlie you nailed the driving, and Liz you rocked the camera footage on the bike!!!😎🫡✌️

  4. Those bikes look like so much fun. And gives you more access to further aces to explore. So beautiful there in vietnam. That park was beautiful. I wonder when and why it quit being cared for. There seems to be a lot of places like that there. Its sad. Are you ever going to leave vietnam? Do you still have plans to go to other countries? Getting the motoe iks aas a good idea! Thanks guys! Cant wait to find out what you discover next time!

  5. Ninh Binh is so beautiful in such a unique place. Riding scooter in VN is an awesome experience. You feel so free yet also feel like you’re a part of a community of riders as well.

  6. That looked like an amazing adventure though some awesome scenery! You’re definitely not in Kansas! (or Washington!) I’m impressed with your ability to drive around on the motorbike, especially in the city. I would find it very challenging. Thanks for the video.

  7. The first cave was the tomb of the First Mother, princess Ly Chieu Hoang's mother. Ly Chieu Hoang was the last Queen (the only Queen of Vietnam) of Ly's dynasty. Then her husband became the fist King of Tran's dynasty.
    The abandoned park was beautiful.

  8. Opal they keep down sizing on you, from goat to a motorbike😂She probably misses yous 🥰 But oh what fun to be cruising on a motorbike for $4. Enjoyed seeing the town and the very grassy and tree covered park😊

  9. You did great driving on the bike! Passing others, going around traffic! Good thing it’s like America, and drive on the right, we’ll usually they do! 😂
Big smiles Liz! So fun! Only a third through. So back to the show!

  10. the first temple you visited (the one in the cave) is not a buddhist, but the temple of the first queen of the Tran dynasty back in 13th century. the second temple is like a report station for another bigger temple, where you report your presence, your purpose before going to the main temple
that broom is actually made from a whole palm tree leaves, not bamboo. the tall monument you can see is for the fallen soldiers.
hope you can stay in Vietnam until the lunar new year (1 month from now), it'll be an amazing cultural experience for you

  11. Motorbikes are a great way to get around in Rural areas, but scary as heck to drive in the big cities……looks like you got the hang of it pretty quick…..be safe guys🏍️

  12. Green Vietnam ! On Feb 10th the year of the Wood Dragon begins & loved the cave with the two golden dragon. Indeed that is a beautiful park too bad they let it get old & rusty Yeah I want some !!!

  13. "Lifestyle of the rich and famous" ? Ok, so that comment was unnecessarily cynical I think. Hope the locals show you more courtesy by not roasting you likewise.

  14. That was some cool video shot . And man I want to live in. House like that along the lake . But the most amazing thing is how the flow of traffic works, I love to drive but no thank you no how …. also I missed how much do you keep to bribe with I don't want to be rude and bribe to little but I also don't want to look all snooty and bribe to much 😂.. Love the video and the snacks at the end looked pretty good

  15. We’re definitely enjoying your adventures! One request … please tell us the temperature and if it’s humid – you guys had long sleeves on in this video – is it chilly or are you just being motorcycle conscious?

  16. So riding on the back of that bike, did it hurt your butt? No back rest is rough. I remember riding on the back of a bike without a back rest and it killed my butt! Soon after that, I decided I didn’t want to be a passenger anymore, got my license and was thrilled riding my motorcycle. Until my surgery and nerve damage anyway, 😒. You guys are having fun and the time of your lives! I wonder why that park was abandoned but still open?

  17. It didn't take you long to adapt to Vietnamese riding practices, well done! I wouldn't have been too suprised to see Pandorans running around those hills and valleys in the rural area; James Cameron obviously loved the otherworldly beauty of many areas of Vietnam.

  18. After another ice age or two Earth will enter a warm phase and in a few million more years I can totally see the ozark plateau looking like this. Awesome tour guys! I love seeing this beautiful landscape. I'm used to karst topography but Vietnam takes it to the extreme!

  19. That was fun! Pronounced Dao ism, my friends I especially like seeing the temples and beautiful parks and things that show their love and respect for nature. One place on my list would be to see Angkor Wat in what is now Cambodia. Once part of the mighty Kmer empire. I think is now considered a Hindu temple, the largest religious complex in the world, but started out centered around Buddha. Eastern philosophies and their culture is very interesting. I'm enjoying all the places you are taking us. I especially liked that view after Charlie pointed out the danger falling sign. I like seeing all the flora, too. Many of my favorite plants and flowers originated in Asia. The ending was super funny! I don't do chips and rustling bags because of my misophonia, so I cut the volume, lol. Was still funny. When I first started watching you guys, you were nearing 1000 subs. Now over 4k on your way to 5k!!! Yous should feel pretty good that your channel is growing so well. And always filled with nice comments….or so it seems mostly 😁 Thanks for the great video. It looked like a blast exploring on a motorbike! Fart on!
